I’m not sure you appreciate it would have been a France throw
If you can show me where Crowley was getting criticised for trying to avoid a 50-22 then we can have that conversation.
There is almost no kick into the opposition half you could make where the "likeliest outcome" is the opposition scoring a try. They are in their own half!
It was just bad luck/exceptional French skill.
Ireland v England in a WC warm up genuinely hurt you?! I'm maybe jumping to conclusions but given your username you may not even remember two of the matches that hurt me as an Irish rugby fan.
Ireland v Australia 1991 WC Quarter Final
Ireland v France 2007 (1st game at Croke Pk, we were meant to win the GS that year until Vicent Clerc broke our hearts).
Ireland v NZ 2023 (everyone is familiar with this).
I was disappointed with those results but what hurts me more than anything is when an Irish side just gives up…that’s what we saw on Thursday and in that warm up game.
You know full well that everything that Crowley & Prendergast does that doesn't work out is over analysed and the blame will be laid solely at their door.
So there is no instance of Jack Crowley being criticised for avoiding a 50-22 then and you’ve just made up something that hasn’t happened.
Thanks for that clarification.
Well Jack has been over analysed and criticised for his errors, even when most would deem it to the right move at the time.
So is the same thing happening now with SP over his fly kick last week?
Like if he, or Crowley, caught the ball in field of play and kicked it out of hand and France scored, would you apportion blame to the 10 for the try?
Examples please.
Go back and read the threads where he played at outhalf, any of them. There are loads of examples there
I listen to quite a few podcasts and its interesting to note that a lot of Rugby Journalists have a preference for Crowley over Sam, although Thornley is one of those who always prefers Sam .
This thread is toxic.
Ireland by 10-12 points.
You had an opportunity to call this out by telling posters fuelling this nonsense about how Sam’s kick was the wrong decision and that he should have just given up the 50-22 that it’s shite talk.
Instead, you’ve tried to make Jack Crowley the victim in this scenario.
If you are genuinely serious about the toxic nature of the analysis of the 10s, then you wouldn’t be participating in this bizarre level of mental gymnastics.
This Sam/Jack talk really is turning me off this team if I’m honest.
Like HBC said, very toxic…
Joe Mc Carthy needs to have a big game today, without giving away avoidable penalties.
Maybe I have those posters blocked, maybe they're posters I just ignore regardless of the shite they post, maybe someone else challenged them, maybe I said to myself "why bother"
But you decided in all of that I made Jack the victim.
You're right though, there are enough posters using mental gymnastics to point score on here and the match is about to start so you can have the last word
If there is another brain fart of a penalty like last week then he should be subbed there & then.
He rarely fooks up 2 in a row though
Ryan will go well I think
I mean, this one, where you were criticising him for missing tackle in a 2-on-1…
Horrendous missed tackle from Crowley, embarrassing stuff.
Or pretty much any of your posts relating to Crowley…
A better team would have taken two tries off Lowe already
I'll just leave that there.
Not about the Sam/Jack debate but Sam needs to be taken off to give this team a chance.
POM is like a young Ricky Bobby in the studio.
"I don't know what to do with my hands"
I watching with the volume down atm but they're dourest looking panel you could pick
Better off.
Too close to the playing squad. Nothing to see here, all will be fine blah blah blah
Osborne to 13 next week, Stockdale at 15. Wings the same from today. JGP and Crowley to start, Bryne and Doak on the bench.
There may be stats, I have no interest in finding them. But be my guest if you are interested.
People will try to use that Crowley error as evidence that there’s not much between him and Prendergast.
They’d be wrong
This team and chunks of the coaching staff are finished, 2 years from a world cup players and staff need to be replaced - same as the end of the schmidt era ….cant afford to sit back and do nothing for another year - changes needed now
Next week:
