Reports stating that Israel have launched an attack against Iran
So the only possible iteration of Israel as a state is as a Jewish apartheid state??
This has already being addressed, the gap can be bridged if America asserts Israel's right to exist but not as the surpremacist state it currently is. In return Iran would have to recognise this new state. I am not convinced by the claim that Iran wants to destroy the state of Israel, i think it seeks an end to how the Israeli state has fuctioned on sectarian lines since its foundations.
If you are correct, though, why does Iran have one of the biggest populations of jews in the Middle East outside of Israel? If Iran is intent on killing all jews, why are there jews still living in Iran. Why are they even alive?
Where did I say they want to kill all Jews?
If you want to throw fire on the flames, sure why not.
Did the Iranian's tell you they're not serious? "Just joking for the last 50 years"
You didn't, but if your claim is true about Iran, that is surely the intent- or at least kill as many as they can in destroying Israel.
Their assertion is destroy the state of Israel.
How that is done has varied. In between his various threats, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad actually proposed some plans to actually move Israel and it's population, in a peaceful manner.
Also during the Islamic revolution, the majority of Iranian Jews left.
I'm actually still a bit flabbergasted that this is page 133 and people are fighting against basic historical facts on the whole issue.
I am aware many jews left after the revolution, but a significant minority remained after the Shah was ousted. If Iran had genocidal intent towards Jews , i am questioning why didn't they all leave. It seems you are admitting there could be a bit more nuance to it. Could it be they wish to see the end of a zionist state based on Jewish supremacy rather than actually wanting to destroy a whole state and killing all its inhabitants. So in effect they want regime change too. If this is the case, as i stated previously maybe the gap can be bridged afterall, if both sides renounce their fundamentalist positons . The current Israeli government as part of any agreement could agree to revise part of its charter which, to put it mildly, is not very inclusive. The Iranians as part of any agreement would also have to give up support for its proxies.
Do you just look at a post a disregard everything else previously discussed?
I've never mentioned genocidal intent towards Jews, those are your words, and you've somehow continued an argument around them.
Yes, there is a difference between wanting to destroy Israel, but not harm your own Jewish population (although considering only around 10% of the pre 1979 population of Iranian Jews remain, there's your empirical evidence they didn't happily return).
I think Iran are a loong way from accepting a regime change as compromise for Israel's existence.
They made me do it, the usual inversion of the bully. Iran has tried to prevent Israel's terrorism and colonialism.
The problem is you seem to think it's borne out of some noble intent rather than an idealogy that Israel can't be allowed to exist as a nation of Jews in the Middle East.
I am going on the evidence, count the dead, count the military power. Iran is verbose more than real. Israel always uses the existential threat to stop criticism of its ethnic cleansing and genocide. The World sees through this and opposes it.
But both things can be true.
You can't dismiss stated intent by pointing out that Israel is more effective at doing what it does, regardless of how wrong it is.
It's like excusing Pol Pot as nowhere near as bad as Hitler simply because he lacked the means to carry out his horrific ideals.
Iran hasn't deal heavy damage to Israel or the security of the Israeli state because Iran lacks the means to do so, but it's not from lack of effort.
That simple statement is not a defense, endorsement, or any sort of support for Israel. It's just a fact.
You need to have a look at Israeli state media.
Millions of Iranians left Iran after the revolution. Many relatively wealthy Iranians and those who had supported the Shah or were opposed to the Islamic Revolution. Many minority ethnic groups and religious communities declined in number in post revolution Iran. The Jewish community is not unique, nor did it suffer the largest decline. Armenians, Assyrians, Christians in general suffered serious decline as did Zoroastrians. Fleeing Iranians could avail of asylum in the US
It's OK, Iran are just joking, they're not actually going to do anything…
Technically you could say that's true, if you discount them weaponising militants the last 40 years for proxy wars.
I do.
Of course they did, I never mentioned any different. The argument was "why didn't Iran kill their own Jews", also I challenged the assertion that Iranian Jews happily moved back to Iran after the revolution… which they didn't and the population currently stands at about 10-15% of the pre 1979 population.
The only difference between the Jewish community and other communities being that the Jewish community had a sovereign country established specifically for them.
If they keep going the entire population will be dead in a month or two and it'll help with Israel's expansion...
I am not talking about you specifically, rather the claim that is generally made that Iran seeks an end to the existence of the state of Israel and wants to exterminate jews, if that claim is true then it could well involve wiping out the entire population in Israel rather than a peaceful transfer of Jews to another region. As regards the Iranians that left, many people that leave conflict zones don't often return. If the aforementioned propaganda were true i'd imagine the 10- 15 per cent that have lived in Iran for 30 years would have also long fled. Well we will never know what Iran is prepared to accept if that isn't part of the current discussions. If the US were an honest broker all matters should be on the table to try and avoid a war and bring stability to region. I don't see another war acheiving that.
Technically the Arabs did also, at the same time. British Palestine ceased to exist when the two state solution came into effect.
I do agree, it's not like there are any Islamic Republics anywhere in the world.
Oh wait.
So Israel should keep ethnically cleansing Arabs from their land and recolonising it with Jews.
Is that the "peace" you're thinking of?
The destruction of the state of Israel has always been an assertion of Iran, since 1979. That has never changed.
What has changed (usually on a Presidential basis), is the inclusion, or exclusion of the killing all Jews part.
As I mentioned, there have been Iranian leaders who have proposed the peaceful transfer of Israeli's out of the region as a solution.
The last part about people leaving, goes directly against what you originally said, and the argument of, Iranian Jews happily stayed in Iran after 1979.
No.
I think it is the destruction of a zionist(sectarian state) - in essence a call for regime change rather than a true intent to wipe out or remove an entire people from the region. If the remaining Iranians jews really believed there was an intent to wipe them out they'd have all fled too. The fact some of them have have remained after 30 years would indicate they don't believe that to be so. Your claim could be tested if as part of any peace agreement, Iran must renounce supports for their proxies , in return the current Israeli Government offically accepts the rights of Palestinians to their own state. The Israeli government must also renounce aspects of its charter that calls for Israeli sovereignity from the river to the Jordan sea - hardly very accomodating language.
What you think, and what Iran have postured for the 40/50 years are completely different.
I agree, like I said, there is a difference between wanting to get rid of Israel and removing your own Jewish population. You seem to think it is a completely black and white situation where removing Israel = removing all Jews. Although, there has been Iranian leaders over the years who have postured this also.
I never made any claims of how approach peace. I have mentioned what isn't working and what wouldn't work in the current climate.
What do you mean by “when the 2 state solution came into effect”?
Are you now supportive of UN general assembly resolutions? Such as resolution 194, 3379, ES10/15, ES10/12?
To settle the matter why not give us a couple of quotes of the Iranian leader calling for all Jews to be killed.
Exactly what I said, 2 states.
Yes, resolution 181 was the partition of British Palestine into 2 states.
