Hi, just wondering if anyone knows when the new BMD data will be available on irishgenealogy.ie? Eg births for 1924 etc?

Well, now. There are some changes on Irishgenealogy in the past week, and currently the early death indexes seem to be gone entirely. Does this mean something is happening?!
They also have listened to feedback and you can now search by county, which returns results by registration district, which can be filtered. As you type a location, it finds a county or district that matches.
I'd love to have the old site back - the new one just doesn't work for me at all.
It's okay if you're looking for a single easy-to-find record but otherwise it's a pain.
What I especially don't like is that every time you press Search it resets all parameters you've previously entered such as number of records displayed, date/relevance or even additional surnames.
Also you can't click on the districts in the side bar and have them open in individual tabs.
How do the rest of ye find it?
I've made my peace with the new site, but the setting not sticking is annoying.
They're definitely playing around with it at the moment. I just did a search for Murphy, no location, deaths 1864-1870. It's given a total of 13 results, and they're all in the newer format with the Group Registration ID, rather than page, volume, etc.

I will write to them anon but, just like my engagement on the new census website layout, I don't expect to get very far and that frustration does wonders for chronic fatigue.
The biggest issue is the shear number of extra clicks required to do any work.
Also, while looking at some of what's going on with the death records (fingers crossed), I'm reminded that clicking to have the results in date order doesn't work either.
It really is a complete mess.

I just went to search for him, in case an image had been added to the record. In fact, now nothing turns up at all…..

They are tweaking it at the moment and changing the old death index references into the newer format.
There's a lot of changes going on with Irishgenealogy at the moment.
Having tried a lot of different ways to search, I find what's best at the moment is to put no location at all in the box and then use the filters when the results return.
A test search for particular parameters in Co. Dublin produces no results, but when I leave out the location, it finds 25 results, 12 of which are in "Dublin".
I've sent a lengthy feedback email & crossed my fingers.
The county location search seems misguided to an extent, some counties have tiny fragments of registration districts resulting in huge piles of records from that district being flagged
However, the combined church and civil search resulted in me finding a marriage that appears to have failed to make it to the civil records or index; but was indexed in the Dublin RC church records.
I have no idea how many other finds like that I may have missed by never searching the church records as they are so limited and often seem irrelevant - this couple were from North Wexford! Appear to have both been working in Dublin.
I have been away from this for a while, very frustratingly they have changed all the links for the pages with the transcript. I have the actual pdf saved but in my tracker I had saved links to the pages with the text for some people as opposed to a print screen. All dead now (pardon the pun)…
Extremely annoying, but it shows the value of having those saved documents - things like this can and do go offline due to spurious data protection complaints for instance. Some of us have documents saved down from when the system was basically live info and had much newer files!
I discovered the same pitfall a long way back and no longer rely solely on saved links as a point of reference.
So, for instance, if it's a death notice from RIP.ie I'll take a screen grab of the notice and just refer to the site generally as the source rather than saving the specific link as they tend to change over time.

Yes, haven't had a chance to do much playing yet, but no early deaths.
Yes, been having some luck with a few births though frustratingly two of them occurred in late '25 so weren't registered till the following year.
Any idea why they are hanging onto those early deaths? They are such a vital look into that time of Irish history where records are few.
No. I emailed genealogy@ccs.gov.ie today about it & got the standard response that it's the GRO's fault.
I have also emailed the GRO, forwarding that correspondence and asking for clarity.

The death indexes for 1864-1870 are back. I had an email from the IG team confirming it and my test searches concur.
Still no images but they reiterate that the GRO is at fault here.
I wish they'd all stop with the blame football and just get on with the job of making the missing images available.
My excitement of hearing the births for 1925 were up was cooled when the View Record link for the person I'm interested in came up "not found". I've reported it but I'd imagine it will be a good while before it's rectified.
that likely means they were registered after 1925 - best to order a copy if you need it soon.
Luckily, it's just for my own interest and I don't need a copy for anything. The person was born in May 1925 so the birth should have been registered in that year. Interestingly though, any records for three brothers who I know to have been born in 1918, 1920 and 1925 don't appear on the website at all!
