Im out of contract with Pure Telecom on the 24th of this month. Im on NBI network and want to switch to Eir's 5GB plan. But its a 24 month contract with April price rises built in.
If I switch on 25/2 (current expiry date), I'll be hit with a price rise in April 2026.
However, according to Eir's T&Cs, new and recontracting customers who sign up in March are not subject to a price rise until the following year i.e. April 2027. So my plan is to let current PT contract expire (currently €35/m) and should automatically be placed on a rolling 30 day contract @ €50/m.
Then on 1st March, sign up to Eir. Hopefully it will be a straight switch after a couple of days. I should then only be charged pro-rata for about a weeks worth of usage with PT.
I should then have only 1 price rise over next 2 years which I can live with, as its still by far the cheapest plan at that speed.

They're paid per install. Existing ONT = No €. So most of them will install one anyway, even if it's replacing it with the exact same model!
Do you have to give notice if you're out of contact with Eir ?
Not if switching, you should be able to tell the new provider to cancel on your behalf under the new IASS process.
If you are switching to a provider who is going to use the same access network (OpenEir, NBI) then it should automatically cancel anyway when the new provider takes over, once the UAN/CRN/NBI Line ID is given.

NotShero summarised it perfectly in regards to switching but if you're happy to stay with eir you should give 1901 a call. They can offer new customer pricing, sims for €9.99 and TV for €9.99. There's better value to be had with other providers if it's just broadband alone that you have though eg Sky are 500Mb/€30 and 1Gb/€35.
Just something to be aware of.
Switched over to Pure last week from Eir and the Huawei router Pure sent is certainly an inferior device to the old Eir F3500. Getting much lower download and upload speeds over wi-fi on devices upstairs compared to what I was getting from the Eir router I had.
As expected Eir want their router back now or will charge a €60 non return fee so I think I'll be picking up a used F3500 from CEX for €36 instead.

I'm out of contract a few months with pure, have planned to switch to a 12 month contract with eir but cannot find my UAN on any bills or correspondence with Pure. I have an old email from digiweb that had my UAN, so would it still be the same number after about 8 years?
No, it's unlikely to be the same. The UAN on Pure Telecom bills is hidden on the first page under "How to pay your bill", it's under the "Post a cheque" above the PostPoint logo.

Yes I would say that's most likely it, you would probably have to contact them to confirm which is which.
Sent a cold cancellation email to Virgin media. Got confirmation of last day when account closes. Got a call today from loyalty team - we give you 1G for 65 pm instead of 80 for 24 month fixed price contract, we give you 6 months half price for 12 months contract, we give you 9 months half price….ok take the full year at half price of 40 for 12 months contract !
I had exactly the same call at 5 today.

Sky is going to add Disney +, HBO Max and Hayu (whatever that is) to their subscription from March. I already get Netflix free with mine. Netflix and Disney alone is about €20 a month.
I've the Sky stream puck for TV and 500mb Fiber broadband, that deal was 45 ish a month i think. Now my speed is normally 50% of what I pay for, Ill get 250mb on a good day, so that's not great, but it's more than enough.
But worth keeping in mind if you are shelling out for Netflix and Disney already.
Do Sky include landline calls in their 500mb package. I've looked on their website and can't see any mention of landline calls?
I have had a landline for 45 years but it's gone just now to get a better deal. This phone did not ring for over 12 months so failed to see the point in keeping it at a cost.
Can I ask for the Netflix package is it the standard Netflix with ads that can only be watched in one place at a time? Is there an option to upgrade to Netflix package that allows simultaneous viewing?
The last couple of times I was with Sky the landline (VoIP) line rental was €5/month extra. I think only evening and weekend calls were free.
It's €5 extra and includes landline calls after 7pm and all day on weekends. I think you can add anytime mobile/landline calls for a tenner extra too, Sky Talk Anytime I think it's called.
It doesn't have ads, I think it's the one that's around 11 euro. No ads but we can only watch one screen at a time. I believe you can pay the difference to upgrade it alright.
Edit: I had a look and you get Netflix basic, you can pay for the extra upgrades. 6 euro for 2 screens, and 11 extra for the full premium service.
Lads I just switched from pure 500gb to digiweb 1gb.
Swapped router just now as it is change over day.
My download is topping out at 96gb. Refusing to budge over 100.. Anyone experienced something similar when changing?
Pure didn't miss a beat at 500gb.
You are connected to 2.4ghz WiFi channel which tops out at that speed.
Log into router and turn off 2.4ghz WiFi and try again with 5ghz channels.
No trying the hard wire to nvidia shield box same thing.
