More of the same. You gotta love the fans that want more of the same when the same is sad and the options are amazing
Prendergast looks like he will be selected at 10. I expect Osborne will start at 15 if fit. Could we see a replacements bench (backs) of Casey, Byrne and Crowley?
If cian treacys team is to be believed, no lowe in the 23, the two prendergasts starting. Stockers at 11 and orbourne at 15
......
Id be delighted with that team
You're making hard work of this.
"Let's" is a contraction of "let us". I have no role in team selection and the "us" here is the fans. I think Farrell should pick who he thinks is the best player in each position, anything else would be bizarre. Plenty of people here think we should just give lads a heap of caps against Tier 1 teams to see how they get on, I am not one of them.
To recap, whatever team gets named tomorrow, all we as fans can do is see how they get on on Thursday. Hopefully everyone will get behind them, regardless of who it is.
On Lowe… I don't particularly care if Lowe gets picked or not, I think Stockdale is a fine player who's in great form and he could well have forced his way in, especially if Thornley is as out of touch as people here think. I just don't agree that Lowe has been nearly as bad as he's made out to be.
Jeez
Going by Irish Indo, Prendegast set to start!! I'm biased being for Munster but against the French, God help us!! They will target him all night long
'To recap, whatever team gets named tomorrow, all we can do as fans is see how they get on on Thursday. Hopefully everyone will get behind them, regardless of who it is.'
Absolutely not. As our national team gets dragged into the muck we should support this ?
I don't think anyone has thought any differently for a few weeks now. Crowley simply is not playing well enough and Prendergast was absolutely fine against LAR.
Every single international team targets the oppo 10. It is nothing new.
I am not a fan of Beirne running the lineout and while I completely understand it from a practical point of view, I would enjoy it more if Edogbo was on the bench over Timoney.
Your lack of support will not be noticed.
Timoney has been consistently quality this season.
the team isn’t named yet, & we should take these predictions with a pinch of salt.
I honestly haven't seen him much (I don't watch a massive amount of Ulster), my opinion is more based on Edogbo being a bit exciting. But that is a silly basis for picking teams.
And of course Furlong doesn’t pull through
When is the last time a player who was an injury doubt actually pulled through?
I didn't say what i want. I asked if you think those players are nailed on to start.
Timoney is not there in egdogbos place, Ryan is??
Anyway if he's not named then it's quite possibly it's simply too early for him. I'm sure there's a mountain of homework to nailed down before you're ready for test level. He still is very young.
With a 6-2, you could just as easily name 2 locks rather than 2 back-rows, particularly with Beirne named at 2nd row tho. But overall, I’d be pretty happy with that; imo we’re seeing much more of encouraging selections from than we did last season.
You clearly care quite a bit if Lowe gets picked. You seem quite obsessed with it.
Ya I was massively Crowley over Prendergast last year and up until Autumn but Crowley has kicked himself out of contention.
He dominated the Croke park match a few months back and was the one pulling the strings throughout. He's a brilliant tackler, his form has dipped alright of late. MOD EDIT Poster warned
Personally I don't take the Lions win in Australia seriously, if anything the defeat to Argentina says more than beating a very poor Australian team who couldn't win anything all year. The Lions dodged a bullet, that team would have been minced by NZ or SA.
I think all our 10s have problems. On top form I think Crowley has the least and if he started I wouldn't mind. But on current form I wouldn't be arguing for him the way I have before.
I would have selected Timoney over Prendergast.
Think that Beirne in the row means he isn't at 6 and in a convoluted way that means Edogbo gets pushed out.
I completely agree with you rationally though. Just think it would have been cool.
the42 is now reporting the same team as the Indo so the biggest loser from this announcement might be Gerry Thornley
Not really getting all the Edwin hype. Apart from being a big powerful guy, he hasn't really shown much else - granted he's been badly injured for a good chunk of his pro career. Has he ever lasted 80 mins of a pro game? I can't see how he'd be a better bet, currently, than Beirne, McCarthy or Ryan.
The younger brother looks like a better player, to me. Similar power but far more mobile and better hands.
Time will tell. And probably prove me wrong!
About time he retired, and take Rud with him!
I would be shocked if Thornley was the one to get dropped off the panel.
6-2 remains a **** option for the bench. One more thing to dislike SA rugby for.
Rugby really needs to switch to bigger match day panels but less subs.
