Dairy power here, very happy with them tbh
good stuff just wasn't the neighbours experience he was never impressed with them. They all give a good share of bother by times as far as I can see
Dairy power and alfco have a similar type ratchet set up I thought ?
We’ve alfco scrapers here since 2019. They got redone this year when we extended the cubicles. Put stainless steel piping from the ram boxes to the wall under the motor. It’s running at a lot lower pressure now you wouldn’t even hear it. We put new tungsten tipped tongues into them when we were at it. They’re on all the new ones sold now.
Very happy with ours, only bother they’ve given us was burst piping
We've dairymaster ratchet scrapers here for 20 and 30 years. They never give trouble really. Touch wood. They say the scrapers were the best thing dairymaster ever did.
Louise Crowley on instagram has massive bother with her dairy master scrapers. Always an issue with them
Keltec automatic track scraper here put in 1996. Still here. Fairly trouble free.
How do robot scrapers compare price wise to ratchet type? Iv neither everything is on slats.
Ya, They’re inside in a hole of sh1t.
My dear fellow. Who in their right mind would put scrapers near excrement???
The issue with dairymaster is they use a temu quality electrically cable from the scraper ram box to the control unit, if said ram box is in the shed and s**t, you maybe get 2-3 months out of it, cable fails and scrapers wont work, have the scrapers here manually over-rided that theyll work without cable, and are on a timer....
Cables are a 180 a piece from memory plus another 100 euro callout, its 4k to upgrade the scraper control units to work without the cable system
Our ram boxes are outside the wall and spotlessly clean. Never had an issue. Simple enough to understand.
Ahhh that made me laugh 😃 😀
Ya thevnew box's in theory are stainless steel and work the same as the external boxes......but they will act the see you next Tuesday if the covers get damaged etc .
Summed up nicely. My ram boxes can't go outside shed due to the layout so I have alot of trouble with Dairymaster cables and solenoid switches but no trouble with Dairypower ones in a similar set up.
Anyone reporting this year is out of personal spite than reality. People spreading slurry this weekend are a bigger danger than those over the Christmas we just had. We've seen in Brussels and Bord Bia lately just how makey-uppy the rules are anyway - calendar farming no exception
100%. Fecking disaster now with the weather
BBefore We leave scrapers they all require a bit maintenance from time to time wouldn't think there's alot between the different makes.the biggest problem is if you have to do anything it's sh#tty work but you kinda pick up on what way to fix them after a bit.we ve rejjied ours to the way they run best with just timers instead of control boxes and we ve changed the positioning of the drive motors in the ropes so that it's a straight pull when she's scraping and going through the pulleys on the return journey.like robot milking they don't completely save you that time that you would be at the job but cows do tend to be cleaner them.
plus one same here
Have dairy power here, 6 passages off one control box, have two motors. All the rams are in the passageways. They are in eight years, no issues. A few parking sensors have been replaced that's all.
Any recommendations for best type of cubicles and mats?? Are the plastic cubicles a good job?
I can never understand with all the technology now that we can't have rainfall monitors in a few areas in a localised region even on a trial basis.
Rainfall totals are logged daily.
Eg 1st week of Dec has no rainfall, the previous 3 days had minimal rainfall & the forecasted rainfall is also minimal.
An automated txt is sent out saying there is a window to spread slurry. Away you go.
2weeks later if rainfall is above a certain level & you are caught spreading then you get nailed.
Above is v simplistic re dates& numbers but can't see why it couldn't be trialled at least.
Must v hard on dairy lads with parlour washings at this time of year
They use the excuse regardless of rain, there is no growth to suck up the nutrients in November December, and that it leeches out of the ground.
They'd want to start measuring grass growth then for those months.
I've more grass growing in November here most years than I do in Jan/Feb but I get your point
Aw I agree, winter has moved to a January February status.
It's a growth calculatior moreso than a rain one the dept and EU should be Useing if they still want control with common sense
Common sense nowadays old fellow is as rare as a Nokia 6610 with full battery.
Rodneys after becoming public enemy number one a few very high profile american farmers exposing his wheeling dealing...
I don't follow the guy but I was led to believe from the teagasc podcast that his success was all from farming, milking and good cows. Never heard anything about all these investors. Of course he didn't mention the slave labour either.
I know i should contact the vet but whats the general action for cows coming on heat every 10 days? Just have 2 of them
Cant understand lads doing them grassmen farmflix videos you tube you only draw unwanted attention to yourself yeah you may get a tractor on demo etc but apart from satisfying these boys ego theres no advantage
