Hoping a New Thread may fix the posting issues.
VDV has had no hamstring injury since Ange and his crazy high line has left Spurs.
the funny thing is, we could do with Trent.
screwed himself, and screwed us.
It's hilarious,he is in contract until June 2031 with a 250 million release clause,he ain't going anywhere without a big payout.
I agree with you there, presume Tsimikas will come back as cover, not ideal but I presume whoever our no 1 target is as back up is not available. Rumours we are after Van Ven who can play centrehalf or left back
This isn't funny, don't laugh now...
(It's probably not true either, don't imagine Arbeloa has that much power at Real)
you probably can't.
but if you can't, the club can't go the rest of the season with just Kerkez there, when you can't even put Bradley on that side due to injury.
How do you convince him to stay if you can't guarantee him the minutes he wants to play?
Robertson can do what he wants. Grade A legend for the club, and he should do what's best for him.
As for the club, either convince him to stay for the next 6 months, or buy cover. there is no middle ground.
Somehow blaming Slot to for Robbo wanting to leave is just bizzare.
That's not quite how I put it, but you seem to have a been in your bonnet for me, so harvest your thanks as best you can.
Kerkez was bought to be the starting left back. He's young and needs to be given the games to bed in. Rotating with Robbo soesn't help, it's not like Kerkez needs a break or is playing so bad he needs time out of the team.
Much as I love Robbo and all he mhas done and stands for allowing him to move on is probably the right move for him (last big contract and increased playing time) and the right move for Liverpool, not just financially but becuase it will be a vote of confidence in Kerkez that Slot isn't hedging his bets by keeping Robbo around, it'll confirm to Kerkez that the LB spot is his and that alone will pay dividends.
If a replaement for Robbo hadn't been brought in in the summer Slot would be blamed for not replacing a clearly aging LB who, according to most people on her this time last year at least, had lost his legs and was no longer able to be the Liverpool starting LB.
When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
When you have a bias against Slot everything wrong is his fault.
Very fast, does a job at CB but can play elsewhere, has a bit of needle to him, and the Dutch connection could be a benefit. But you're right, another sicknote is the last thing we need.
I'm not convinced at Kerkez as the starter in any case so even more worried about his cover being removed.
If Slot is really good to play Kerkez 90% of the time though then it's so hard to adopt a position that he should bench warm for 6 months before a WC
he was crap at Liverpool 😂
Faster than Brad Smith? I think he likely remains our fastest ever player. Never worked out for him in the PL
I wonder how much the pitch at Tottenham plays into their injuries. Last season it was all Ange and his playing style, new manager and new style and Tottenham are still struggling with injuries this season. I was never convinced having a pitch that is removable for the NFL, seems like you are not running on stable ground there. But NFL matches for eternity and money…right?
Robbo was the weak link in the XI last season and he couldn't displace him, losing Robbo makes our defence weaker right now.
I've been watching Roma games over the past few months to follow how Ferguson is doing, and I've been amazed at how Tsimikas is struggling at Roma. I always thought he played well at Liverpool when he got a chance, but watching him in Serie A now, I'd say he'd be a big downgrade on Robertson as back up if he is to return in January.
If he manages to remain healthy from now until the summer I'd be a little more encouraged.
Injuries aside I do think he's talented.
He's extremely fast Van de Ven. One of the quickest players in world football apparently. Those kind of muscle issues are common in sprinters.
Makes him a very risky signing considering his likely high cost.
He's been fine since Ange left to be fair.
Yeah the volume of hamstring injuries in particular is scary
Have you seen his injury record? Hard pass on him
Yep, hopefully Robbo get's in his ear, I think he'd be a good signing and one we should have made when Spurs were getting him (I think he's a fan and we were linked because of that but never made a move)
He'd be very expensive now
If he wants to go and play more that's fair, you can't deny him that. Incredible servant
Probably my favourite player of the Klopp era and there is a lot of competition there. At his peak he was world class, aggressive, creative and still running up on down that wing in the 93rd minute. Always enjoyed the behind the scenes stuff with him, total character and will be a big loss to the dressing room.
£8m from Hull, 9 years ago, no one at the time thought he would be so good, absolute gem.
Aren't there rumours of Van der Ven coming the other way, or is that just general transfer noise?
Was there not rumours of talks opening with Robbo around November?
Wouldn't be a proper send off, but Spurs come to Anfield in March, I'm sure he'd feel the love from the crowd
And that's fair.
The club got stung with the Salah deal and I'd say anyone over 30 will get a hard time getting a long contract. That's fair too.
I wonder if part of it may be related to his friendship with Jota and finding it hard to be around the changing room and environment without his friend. He may just want to change to help come to terms with what happened. Also playing regularly before the World Cup would be a factor since it would likely would be the first and last time at the World Cup.
I think Tsimikas has 18 months left on his deal where as Robbo has only 6 months left. Bring Tsimikas back means not having to look at this position in the summer with all the other investments we need to do.
I don't like it but not every player gets the big send off and not all may want it either. Hope he does well there except when playing us.
Maybe he might not be getting a new contract so he has to look after himself?
