Yeah the best thing about it is the outside.
Nah, not enough gold. It is truly horrible though - huge amounts of money thrown at it and the interior is a mess. All for show and nowhere to make a cuppa and put your feet up.
Not all gold... ;)
Beautiful house externally. Some of the interior is overdone, but that would be easily fixed. Considering 1.4 million would barely get you a 4 bed in Clonskeagh, its a bit of a bargain for anyone for whom a chunky commute is irrelevant.
It's a typical example of house built to someone's very individual taste and some of the worst art I've ever seen.
If, for some reason, someone wanted to film a remake of 2001: A Space Odyssey then this would do for the final scenes.
while the interior is gash, that was an expensively assembled house im sure and the exterior and grounds arent bad.
I think you've given Trump a bit too much credit there. Stunning house and location. The interior does leave a lot to be desired.
Rather than Trump, my guess would be that the interior finishes were completed in the early 2000's, chosen by the wife of a property developer / new money, and off the vintage that she grew up watching and dreaming on being in the TV show Dallas.
GPs surgery included apparently!
Mrs CML, who knows about these things, says the nudes are by Tara de Lempicka.
Interesting concept for the use of a piano, and the kitchen is a bit minimalist for the size of the house, other than that though i suppose i could put up with it 🙂

that's a nice house now…
it reminds me a little (in terms of layout and size) of a house my wife's uncle once rented - he got it in the state it's in here, for a song (€800pm IIRC) and as you can see, the house is in a very different condition.
he was more interested in the stables attached to it than the house itself; but we had a few parties there.

Big Graham Knuttel painting in one room, worth a few euros. All McMansions need one
Not a Van Gogh fan?
Not bad. But why is there an armchair across from the shower? Channeling Debbie Harry:
I will give you my finest hour
The one I spent watching you shower
Also I venture to suggest that there may be a drinking problem. A bar AND the piano is full of booze too.
they are the best part of the interior
I know the guy that bought it and is living in it now.
Beautiful home and gardens
Ballinamere, Tullamore, Coleraine, Co. Offaly, R35X063 is for sale on Daft.ie
Love the home bar and outdoor pool area
a lot of love went into that garden, shows
i guess he has (had) deep pockets to restore it.
I'd never heard of her but looked her up and presuming by the price some of her painting were sold, the ones in that house are prints ?
Agreed, though I don't think there was a single 'level' photograph 😁
That Navan house could have been amazing if the owners had any taste. You should realise you've taken it too far when you decide to pimp the tiny cupboards under the stairs that are only comfortably accessible if you're a hobbit.
Most likely. If originals they would probably be worth more than the house.
Presumably you know/recognise the Sunflowers upstairs. A real one would be $100m easily. So definitely prints - and there's nothing wrong with art prints imo. But feels more wrong when it's a really well known piece imo
Must ask him for a nose around next time I see him. It came with a disused quarry and a bit of land.
There was an unfinished house included in the sale too. I think the original owner (who died before he got to finish it)
planned to fill the quarry back up and live in the new (unfinished) house. Not sure what the plan was for Tobertynan House though.
yeah, that's why my wife's uncle was able to rent it cheaply - the quarry was in operation at the time. not a house you'd want to live in full time or spend money on when you're staring out at a quarry.
a friend and i had our joint 30th birthday there about two decades ago. i think we burned 300l of heating oil and seven large animal feed sacks of firewood keeping the place heated for two nights - it was a very cold march weekend, with snow on the ground.
Who was your Uncle? PM it to me. My parents live not too far away.
Apologies if this has been shared before but this is a beautiful property in need of a lot of money. Could be a fabulous home/boutique hotel/guest house for the right person. Not me, I can't afford it 😂
