disagree here i know some that were very well home schooled, as the state was unable to provide them with their needs within the public system, forcing home schooling, and it worked out very well
There could be exemptions for special cases where the state cannot provide a service but that would be a very small amount of cases and certainly not for the likes of the Burkes.
Mammy Burke has a case to answer for that.

The department of education in consultation with GPs and the health service. A physical or mental disability would have to be identified by a professional that the education system couldn't cater for. I very much doubt the Burke kids at 4 or 5 years of age would have displayed any of these traits.
Don't think the state can intervene in every family with issues.

It Is already involved with special needs students in schools with school coordinators assigned to the role of liasing with the parents or student directly if over the age of 18. Medical certs and doctors certs are sought where required.
Home Schooling is enshrined in Article 42 of The Constitution of Ireland.

People would have said the same about abortion and marriage. Another repeat Burke situation would generate momentum.
It wouldn’t; there would still have been ample opportunity to develop substantially as he has through home influence which outweighed an external school influence. A significant difference might have been that he/they would have disrupted schools while they were children just a panic as they did universities later.
What evidence have you of that? A significant portion of the day spent in the school environment during a child's formative years and being disciplined to listen to others and integrate socially with other kids is hugely beneficial to a child's development as a rounded person. The fact that the Burkes have been sheltered from these situations has to be a big part of the tone deaf approach they take to opposing views. By the time they got to university they were well past that developmental stage and fully indoctrinated.
If you watch the father or mother speak, the children have the exact same way of speaking down to the facial expressions and the tonal inflections in their voices. It's crazy to see. All of the children hop on their toes at certain points when talking, make scrunched up facial expressions to emphasise the same words and so on. I dread to think of what has gone on to produce such automatons in that way. They all appear to have an extreme lack of social skills and possibly veering into a disability level lack of awareness of how they come across in my view. The fact that one of them appears to be willing to do life in jail for this kind of issue really is worrying in terms of brainwashing. It's dangerous also. I wonder what the parents and siblings reactions would be if Enoch if he purged his contempt? You'd wonder if he feels he simply has no option. Enoch has now attracted some right wing oddballs with cameras around the school, with little kids in there. What parent wants that hanging around their childs school? We already saw oddballs walking around creches with cameras with the little kids in the creche. I can only imagine the way I would feel if people like that with cameras were marauding around my childs school. The fines have been great but the family has cost the state a lot and will continue to do it.
The silver lining is that they don't appear to have equipped the children with any ability whatsoever to reproduce.
Look on the bright side of life, none of them have run for public office, excluding some university positions as students.
I think it's very unfair to blame homeschooling, the Bourkes all graduated college so it's not like they're thick as Zoo glass! Interpersonal skills aren't taught in school, just work in retail or hospitality to see how "normal" people can't even say please or thank you! Enoch isn't a Cnut because he was homeschooled.

Reminds me a bit of my mother. I basically had to come out as a heterosexual, because in her house even that was taboo. I'm pretty sure she hoped I'd be a priest 😯 I went along with the nonsense for years but always detested going to church and regarded priests as total creeps
