Any way to get rid of the banner at the bottom? Very annoying.

On my (android) device, the bottom bar doesn't even display an ad, it's just a grey bar blocking a part of the screen. There is a text that reads "advertisement", but no ad. But it makes scrolling and reading the forums harder since it blurs a part of the page.
Same thing. I have given up using the site till it's fixed

I've turned it back on due to that banner - empty - blocking so much of the screen.
same, it’s ridiculous. Guess at some point adds will appear there which by my estimation will be 40% approximately of the screen for non subscribers will be adds and the site in general will become more of a hassle and inconvenience to navigate…
If there has to be more advertising why not a pop up add users can ‘X’ out of quickly when you see it to continue using boards without interruption…?
The funny thing is, this ad, is just blank. So it's not generating any revenue for the site but is simultaneously annoying the user base. Something of an own goal so to speak.

I can confirm I see it on Chrome and Firefox on MacOSX and Linux Debian if that is any help.
yes I'm using my laptop, Chrome is my browser. A quarter of the page is blurred out with a banner saying nothing at all except Advertisement. Beyond annoying, its stopped me using Boards over Christmas. Glad its not just me.

Banner is still there
If you add a bookmark to your bookmark bar and call it something like "de-ad" or whatever you want, use the JavaScript from the following site as the URL and save the bookmark (actually a bookmarklet)

When you're on boards and the ghost banner appears, click on the link you created and it will delete the banner.
Mike is looking into it per the bug feedback thread. Best if it's sorted on the site as add ons or bookmarks aren't everybody's bag.
I have received confirmation that the fault with this banner ad has been found and a fix has been applied. This ad space is being served as expected now.
