Prima Facie sold out in about four minutes. I know it was the Gaiety but I was surprised with no queue or waiting room.
I just got tickets this morning in the pre sale for the Aussie Floyd show.
It's been a few years since U2 toured (other than the Las Vegas thing). These crazy prices weren't in place during their last tour. What makes you think they won't jump on the bandwagon. They aren't young men any more, and will be looking to maximise their retirement pot.
Also, a quick google says that over half of the tickets for the Las Vegas sphere gigs were approx $300. That is not low priced or cheap.
Sorry not a gig, or anything that adds to the Dublin vs. Rest of Ireland debate, but I thought some might find this interesting. Los Campesinos break down how much they make from streaming:
They did a good breakdown of how much it cost them to play Dublin last time they were over and why it doesn't pay small to mid sized acts to tour abroad. Fantastic live act.
Depressing reading really.
I don't know how bands keep going really. I'm delighted they do, but so many must be existing on the breadline
in fairness they had made some decisions for the Dublin show which ate into it. Making it all ages wiped €1,500 or €2k off their money.
I wasn't aware it was all ages. The 2 grand is due to the bar? Anyway, the margins were tight as feck one way or the other. And they were honest about having a good time while they were here, having a few pints etc. One-way or the other, their point was crystal clear. Life at this end of the music industry is a financial tightrope. Gets harder and harder to watch the top end making hay.
Thats the article there...

yeah button factory rental is €1,000 if over 18’s years and it was €2,500 for Los as they went for all ages as venue needed extra security on staff and loss of bar earnings.
Very hard going for those bands and as Fanirish said they are losing money allowing under 18s in .
A lot of us remember our first gigs in our teens and the influence it has on our musical taste and enjoyment . Such a pity that .
Not to mention that there is so little for that age group as it is .
Maybe a subvention from our Minister for Arts to gigs that need extra security to cater for younger fans attending ?
I know I am being idealistic but do we want our music industry and venues to go the way a lot of smaller venues in the UK have ?
nothing got to do with minister. Security are there to make sure kids don’t get served.
What do you mean ? Of course if they choose to put money into an area it would help.
Does the artist usually get a share of the bar sales?
never. Promoter pays a rental fee for a venue. For all ages shows the rental fee is considerable to offset the additional security costs and loss of bar sales
Ah I get ya. A bit of a double whammy for the artist so. Wonder how expected bar sales are calculated. Presumably people would be drinking less midweek than say a Friday or weekend night.
Alanis Morisette playing Musgrave Park next year, June 24th
Got my Evanescence ticket and a cheap flight sorted. Turns out it’s much easier than waiting for our “local” setup to remember the rest of us exist.
And who knows, maybe that lovely Westlife block-booking had a little something to do with us missing out on a date here. Wouldn’t be the first time a packed calendar magically left no room for anyone else.
At least Cork’s on a roll. Zach Bryan, Neil Young, and now Alanis booked down there. Refreshing to see the summer lineup thrive somewhere that isn’t usually first in line.
there can be 30 different factors why an international band skip ireland on a tour. No band is going to play every major city in Europe. Ireland does extremely well given its population and logistical concerns for getting most arena tours at some point
Its the same type of bands that skip here. Its rare a certain type of dross will miss out on their easy pay. If its dross youre into, this city rarely disappoints.
Id say you're fun at parties anyway
Skunk Anansie supporting Alanis it seems
venues don’t calculate exiected bar sales. They charge flat rates per night.
Bloody good fun.
both belfast Zach Bryan shows are near sold out and Saturday in cork gone as well. only the Sunday cork show to sell and that’s a wrap
Wonder what prices will be like?
According to Cork Beo €89.90 - €99.90
Irish singer-songwriter CMAT is pleased to announce her largest ever Belfast headline show on 31st August 2026 at Custom House Square.
Mad prices all the same. Wonder what the ceiling is on these prices. You'd hope they couldn't keep going up indefinitely. Also judging by Croke Park last year there will be plenty of tickets going cheaper closer to it so anyone that misses out could bide their time till then.
Speaking of CMAT, I see there's general standing tickets gone back on sale for tonight's gig in 3Arena.
Only copped this now. Haven't followed her lately but loved her in the Other Voices tent at EP whenever that was, Emotions and Maths album was fantastic. Ticket bought.
