Looking online after i posted, it seems the Switch version is in the box along with a code for the Switch 2 upgrade.

I find it a bit mad that Switch 2 games are more expensive than the same Switch 1 game. Surely if Nintendo want to promote the new console they should make them the same price or even make the Switch 2 title cheaper

having played both the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk, both are excellent games but cyberpunk is the best one and keeps improving!

Isn't Starfox 64 a rehash of Starfox on the SNES? They could at least integrate the content from Starfox 2 …
The game play on that looks very dated, more or less on rails with waves of enemies. I understand this has been the Starfox formula but in 2026 they need to be doing something original. I have a Switch 2 and really struggling to get a use out of it. There hasn't been a top class Nintendo game since Mario Odyssey. All the 3rd party games I already have on PS5.
It reminds me of that game that came out a few years back that had toys you loaded into the game. You bought space ship packs and little people to pilot them.

Battle For Atlas, it was a grand Ubisoft game but in a spaceship. Classic Starfox has always been an on-rails shooter
Starlink: Battle For Atlas, whose Switch port with the Starwing/Fox crew was a legitimately fun game hobbled by the Toys To Life bollox and pricing of the digital licence upgrades. Plus it got a pretty decent post- release update in the form of the Red Moon stuff.
After TTL died on its arse, a smarter move would IMO have been to patch in a non-TTL mode (or just give every new player an unlock for all the ships) because the main vexation of the thing is that the ships/toys you bought (whether physical or digital) were your extra lives before you had to reload at a spawn point. Ditching that aspect would have made it much easier to recommend the game as is, and it does offer a lot of fun IMO.
Looking at the launch video, I do think that an on-rails shooter, even a pretty one, feels restrictive compared to an open-world/free-roam one. But I guess there's some element of "stick to the formula" at play...
Once it became obvious Toy to Life thing wasn't catching on the price of Starlink dropped. I got if very cheap and have to say it was a grand game. I put a few hours into and enjoyed it. It ultimately became very grindy.
Like others have stated above, a rehash of the on-rails game play feels like a step back. On the back of Mario Galaxy Movie they could have rejuvinated the Starfox franchise and made a real game.
Love an on-rails shooter. Happy enough they stick to this style if they add a bit more depth. As long as it's not just Starfox 64/Lylat Wars with a new lick of paint I'll probably pick it up
While I certainly share some frustration that they’re just wheeling out Star Fox 64 again, have to reject the idea that an on-rails shooter is in any way not a ‘real game’. Lots of amazing games on-rails - I’d be delighted if they brought back Kid Icarus Uprising with proper dual analogue controls.
As others have said, that game was Starlink: Battle for Atlas. I bought a few copies of it on Switch, the one with the Arwing. I could not tell you where they are though. They're around somewhere, like everything else.
It was a pretty decent game. The last real Star Fox game I bought was Star Fox Zero on Wii U. It was awful, really short, yet another remake, and the controls were infuriating. I said it before, that they could have made it so much better by adding an online multiplayer battle mode, with free roaming aerial combat.
My initial impressions of this game aren't great. Nintendo are charging $50/€50. That's so unlike Nintendo these days with their pricing. IDK, maybe they're hoping the price will get it some notice.

At least they're giving good notice. Sony gave something like 6 days for the PS5 increase a month ago.
