New thread as the last thread seems to be broken.
We'd be at home though
Fingers crossed Ferguson finds a bit of form in the intervening few months as well… how nice would it be to have two decent forwards!
They are better than us, no argument there, but other than Ukraine I'd have taken them from pot 1 before the draw especially at home if we did get past the Czechs.
Also we've a clean bill of health right now but I guess the same could be said for the Czechs.
And with a brighter look on Denmark, we may have gotten spanked by them in 2017 (thanks in no small part to the most tactically inept managerial performance I've ever seen), but in the first leg, and the 2019 group stage afterwards we draw the other 3 matches… through on pens perhaps?
Except 2017 where we got a draw in Denmark and hockeyed in Dublin 🤣
We can taunt them that Alexander the Great was actually born in Greece and is Greek.
That'll get under their skin.
A pity the Czechia game isnt on next month, whilst the team have the momentum.
They will be going in cold next March and thats traditionally a very poor window for Irish teams.
There are no bad teams in the thing, really. I'd prefer them in Dublin over Denmark, should Ireland progress to that stage, put it that way. They'd be drained from an (improbable) victory over Denmark, and could go apart from the pressure of the occasion, whereas Denmark know how to manage a game, usually.
Denmark completely dominated Scotland.
Scoreline isn't a fair reflection of the game.
But they're beatable.
We owe them for 2017 and the Vikings raping and pillaging us.
Yup… I mean, we all had to have a bad result somewhere or we wouldn't be in these qualifiers. That's the only game in the entire group they conceded more than 1 goal, and have shown they could get a result in 3 of their 4 hardest matches (much like ourselves). Denmark obviously the favourites there, but as a pot 4 team North Macedonia would've been one to avoid.
Jaysis think you're being optimistic there!
Denmark are not the team that battered us 5-0. Eriksen is not going to be lighting up the pitch. It would be a difficult game but we are at home and after watching their game against Scotland they don't look insurmountable right now.
We have to get there first though. Czechia are a bit of a mess at the moment but we still have to go there and win. Not easy. They'll be happy they got us at home.
and lost 7-1 to Wales.
Ireland vs Macedonia in a friendly while everyone else battled for qualification sounds like one of the levels of hell
Macedonia are decent.
Drew with Belgium home and away.
Drew with Wales.
Czechs haven't been great in qualifying. They had their own Armenia moment away to the Faroe islands. Their best results were a 0-0 home draw with Croatia and a 2-0 win on the road against Montenegro. As long as everyone is fit, we have the players to beat them.
Milltown I'm hearing on the wireless
Yeah, like despite their bad loss to Wales (the only game they conceded more than 1 goal), North Macedonia on their day are no mugs… drew their other game against Wales, and drew both home and away against Belgium in their group.
Best airport to fly into for Prague other than Prague Airport? Somewhere Ryanair go preferably and easy train links
I think so.
Denmark drew with Scotland and Belarus before losing to Scotland…so not great form there…only beat Northern Ireland 2-1 in June in a friendly aswell…so I wouldnt fear them too much, especially at a packed Aviva…of course have to get past Czechia first

No easy paths to the final, but the one Ireland has drawn is certainly a less hard not-easy path, at least. It gives a chance, though improbable, of a Ireland v. North Macedonia game in Dublin to qualify for the World Cup.
That would make sense… I'd guess the two teams who don't go forward play against each other in the same format? The loser of ourselves and Czechs play at home against the loser of North Macedonia and Denmark…
Ya it's product bad memories of a better Denmark side.
I think there's a friendly match if we don't win.
So I guess they sell them in advance.
How are they going to do ticket sales for the final? Just wait until Ireland qualify and sell them all at a few days notice? Or sell them in advance and refund if the game doesn't happen?
I suspect the Czechs would have preferred one of the Balkan teams from Pot C.
Schmeichel is like an ageing Shilton at this stage, festy will beat him from 30yds (whilst trying a pass)!!
