New thread as the last thread seems to be broken.
And hey, we've already won 3 on the bounce for the first time in god knows how long - what's 2 more?
The team spirit in the camp now, and the sense of earned confidence, I'd say no-one will fancy playing us like the might have a month or so ago.
We could do with the playoffs being next month. Having them in March leaves an awful lot of time for crucial players to pick up an injury and come down off the high of what they've done so far.
Stephen Kenny would probably do a somersault if he was on the line Sunday
HH remained grounded (maybe that's from his medical background)
He takes hits of nitrous.
There'll be many leaving their roles under the restructure soon so wait and see
That's another thing that used to annoy me about Kenny. He used to celebrate goals against Gibraltar or Luxembourg as if we had just won the world cup.
So we have at least two teams in Sweden and Macedonia who pretty much packed in the qualifying campaign because they knew they would have a playoff spot through another route.
Especially for Macedonia there was almost no advantage of beating Wales last night.
It's very corruptible.
Nobody beating Italy is a "stun" these days.
There’s definitely a major flaw in the system. Wrecks players heads if the motivation isn’t clear. Sweden will be a different team by next March.
They would be playing a pot 2 team instead of 1.
Still tough either way but still they could face tougher team now. Small things now could be big come March
If Sweden were playing the long game, and not trying a leg cause they already had a playoff spot, then why did they sack their manager?
I don't give them much of a chance, as they are up against a pot 1 team. Granted on paper they have an excellent squad, but don't think they have gelled, and Graham Potter would not inspire confidence.
Potter managed in the Premier League therefore he is clearly brilliant 😉
Is Crawford still in the job? If he had any self respect he’d resign immediately.
Shameful and has also taken the good out of what has been a great week.
Forgot they played last night. When I saw score I thought was other away around.
Thats a disgraceful result. Should been sacked on the sideline.
under 21 job is not a results job. It’s a youth development job with no prize money at stake. He may leave at the end of the campaign but anyone getting deeply invested in underage results needs to take a look at themselves rather than anyone else
You keep saying that but if Andorra are bating the sht out of your team then you are clearly not developing them. It's the 21s they should be more than developed enough to beat Andorra.
I keep saying that because it’s true. It’s not a job where people get sacked mid campaign. But think what you wish.
I don't think he will get sacked but that's different to should.
Nobody should have to be "looking at themselves" for being invested enough to think he should get sacked.
grand, we pretty much agree, he won’t get sacked. My personal opinion is anyone getting deeply invested and calling for heads over underage results needs to get out more but other opinions are available.
Would agree about not being over-concerned about underage results - but U21s isn't really underage. It's 21 year olds, quite often 22 year olds, mostly professionals playing first team football at decent clubs, theoretically ready and waiting to step up to senior international level when an injury occurs or opportunity presents.
0-4 to Andorra needs explaining beyond 'kids learning'.
I think getting hammered by Andorra is more than an ‘underage result’. I don’t want to sound over dramatic but I would describe it as disturbing. Losing 2-0 to England last Friday was an underage result.
What time is the draw?
strange result. Didn't see it but watched the game last week against England and thought we played well.
anyway speaking to a polish guy I know, Poland might not have fans allowed at their next home game due to the Netherlands match being stopped due to flares throw onto the pitch. A long shot but might face a reduced capacity allowance.
Tomorrow at 12
Cheers,
Is it televised/streamed?
on rte2 I think and would be streamed on fifa.com or UEFA.com but you’d have to open an account (for free) with them but well worth it for the highlights you can access of international and CL games
I think they are always on the verge of being banned but I don’t think they will.. Poland have been pretty uninspiring recently and heads will drop if we have the right attitude in the game.
U19s We're knocked out of qualification in the first round of their qualifiers too. Though were hit hard with injuries especially to midfield and then losing players to the U17s for the WC as it was for last year's U17s plus you had Jacob Deveany and Mason Meilia with the U21s.
So has it be decided who we can get based on the rankings?
