Random question on any ME3000sp users out there. I've firmware 3.0 installed - went looking to see what the change logs were from my version to 3.4 (which seems to be the current version) but couldn't find anything online.
Anyone know of any decent functionality change which would make the upgrade worth it? I'm a "tech head", so it's not something I'm afraid of doing for lack of experience, but I typically don't upgrade firmware unless there's a good reason. A few times I've been hurt taking the latest and greatest….and downgrading is often a RIGHT pain to lower versions.

I'm moving house and I'm trying to figure out heating, solar and battery options.
I'll be getting PV and battery anyway, but I want to size the battery to run a heat pump as much as possible.
Will a 30kWh battery cover much heat pump use during the winter months? I don't expect it to cover it totally, but I don't know what to expect.
I haven't had to pay for electricity for over three years, so I'm not looking forward to big bills.
Does anyone have a similar setup running? What's your experience? TIA
I have a HP and about 30kWh in batteries. Currently changing some parts but I have found it will cover all of my heating and other usage outside my 9 hour night rate.
But the HP is only using about 2500kWh per year so it will of course vary a lot between houses.
This will totally depend on your airtighness and level of insulation in your new house. We have an A1 house and our heating bills are extremely cheap for the year, I know others in A3 houses and are riddled with huge bills. It will depend on the house and how the heat pump is setup.

Yeah, as mentioned while updating the firmware (not just on this but any device) is generally simple, I'm a huge fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Too many times in work I have encountered being put into a situation where the "better" version was infact worse off than previous firmware an regretted going near things in the first place.
That said, there's a time and a place for upgrades so it's not something that people should never do. Just don't blindly do things is my advice.

Currently the house is C1 and was built in 2011, but I plan to get the insulation and airtightness up as far as is possible, although external insulation isn't an option.
Good to know it's possible and it will drive my decision on electricity supply. The EV plans are good, but don't give enough time to charge a large battery.
Now, where to get a 30kWh battery at a good price. Two 15/16/17 kWh packs would work. I'll have loads of room for them without using the attic.

Lots of info on this thread! I have 16 panels and a Solis S5EH1P5K-L inverter and a Zappi and an EDDI. All working fine on the MyEnergy app etc etc. Thinking of putting in a 10kw battery that can be charged with excess solar (and then discharged back to the grid at end of the day for any unused energy) and also charged up at night (between 11pm and 8am for me).
My installation is all indoors (except the Zappi which is outside) incase that matters but I have seen the Dyness Powerbox G2 10kw for about 1,800 euro online which seems very good and reputable but if there are much cheaper 10kw options that work with my setup I would be all for pursuing that (except going to the North to collect anything!).
Anyone have any recommendations based of the above for me?

A question on the voltage… you mention to get an inverter to take 48v packs. What's the difference between using a 48v pack versus a 51.2v. How does it affect which inverter you use? Is one better than the other?
Hi, I’m looking to get 5m of 35mm2 battery cables for my battery, is there anywhere in Dublin that sells them?
When I say 48v packs, it's a catch all term for the low voltage batteries that are on the market. The 51.2v packs is the norm now but classed under 48v systems, (harking back to lead acid)
What to watch out for is the likes of sigenergy and Huawei, they use high voltage for the batteries and can only use their own brand, not DIY or other brands.
Am I missing something, is that not horridly expensive versus the various kits now available
under 4k for >30kWh I think was a great deal -reviews are good- long established company - modular - easy to add to - easy to replace without system going down - easy to manage and setup - no additional cost - not saving much if anything v kits or diy
Is it plug and play? If so, it's decent. Batteries have tumbled in price so you'll get other plug and plays for a similar enough price point these days

constantly changing prices - doesn’t make sense currently €2300 for 3 and €5000 for 6 - I got 6 for €4000
What battery would be recommended for a 5kw hybrid Sigen inverter with 6.3kw of panels. This is a recent install so would probably get the sparks to install, I wouldn't want any excuses with warranty on the job etc.
Also, on Energia 11pm-8am night rate so maybe waiting until April/May might be a good idea? Will battery prices change much by then?

i have to WECO 5k3's but want more storage. i want about 25/30kw so another 4 weco's are approx 6k but i see everyone talking about fogstar. Looking at the kits (i need it in kit form to bring into the attic) they have a few different options Cornex highstar and eve. looking at the specs the differences are the charge and discharge rates and the cycle life.
Can anyone help with what would be best? I have a 5k solis 5g inverter that i would use to charge the battery's are night on a night rate.
Probably at a premium too?
Personally I'd avoid inverters/companies that restrict you to buy their batteries too. It seems like a money grab to me.

Here's the new V4 kits from Fogstar. This is my most recent build series. I actually kind of of prefer the older V3 kits. Same BMS in them both. It's good fun, but can be a bit daunting to some.
I have settings videos too specific to Solis inverter. It's not very complicated and I know a few people on here have used the videos to help them build their storage.
I happen to be changing my setup to something more custom, so if a pre-built battery suits your needs, I will be selling mine soon. Haven't advertised anything. They've only seen a couple hundred cycles and were built last year. PM me if you have any questions.
They have also went down the route of high voltage batteries, Which does mean that the cables can be lighter for higher power - But Its still usually a 16S LFP battery but with a DC DC converter in them - Means they dont need the DC DC in the Inverter.
Hi ghost, I'm intrigued as to what this "custom" set up will be.
That said for any readers on here ghost's video series is well worth a watch, for all things Solis and Seplos, very good.
