New thread as the last thread seems to be broken.
No, they are English and that’s who they want to represent, and fair play to them, we need to respect that. After seeing what it meant to Parrott today, there’s no way we should be going out of our way to bring in players who are hesitant, only to block the path of someone who genuinely values an Ireland cap.
I wonder would the likes of Dewsbury hall and jobe bellingham regret turning us down now?
being part of a game like that today or perhaps never playing 1 international game for England.
If we are pot 3 we'll have two away games regardles?
Be amazing. Heimer's made us tough to beat at home again, we'd have a solid shot against any of the possible teams at the Aviva.

The examiner also reporting that there's a draw for home venue for the play off final.
Hopefully North Macedonia do us a huge favour on Tuesday night. A home semi against a pot 3 team would be brilliant.
Festy scared the life out of them when he came on. He has good pace and huge strength. His end product is not there but he created havoc which is exactly what was needed. He was very important in getting that win so I think the criticism is unfair.
I worked it out as 50 points gained
Hard to see the likes of Italy being drawn away from home in a final.
I've a feeling we might see a couple of shocks, some pot 4 teams knocking out pot 1 teams.
Remember North Macedonia beat Italy in the semi before Portugal knocked them out
Are we definitely unseeded? The rankings are being updated after the last qualifying games are played
sure if they want to do a few Dutch or Italian cupla focal in private good luck to them but thinking Irish academies have the resources to have langauge classes like you originally proposed. That’s not going to be possible
Yeah, that doesn't sound right. Although, it wouldn't surprise me with Uefa.
I've not seen any other sources claiming this regards the play off final. Every source beforehand has the fact there will be a draw for home venue for the final. It is irrelevant if the team in the final is seeded or unseeded, the draw determines final venue. Now Gavin Reilly is usually on the ball, but this is all very odd.
Rte even reported it differently earlier today. I think Reilly is incorrect.

As well as Thursday's draw for the play offs we are also in the draw on Dec 5th for the WC itself so we can see what group we could get.
Brilliant result, dont know how we did it but it happened. Whats the saying better to be a lucky general than a good one...
I think HH hoovered up all the luck over the last 10 years.
He deserves a new contract if he wants it, not sure his style of football will bring long term success but he speaks well and appears to be building something. All the players hitting the 20-30 cap mark is a huge help.
I had almost switched off after the 1st 2 games, was sure it was done.
Delighted for the players they have suffered over the last 6/7/8 years some of it there fault alot of it on the management.
Festy Festy Festy, i hope thats the last time he plays for Ireland, robbing a living and offering nothing.
If Ireland progress to a play off final, they have a 50/50 chance of being at home for that final. This will be determined by the draw on Thursday. This is a fact.
In terms of the semi final, by calculations being done in numerous places regarding FIFA rankings, we have around a 50/50 chance of being in pot 2 and a home semi final. We need Austria to get a result at home to Bosnia (this should happen) and we need North Macedonia to get a result against Wales (50/50 ish by the odds).
So, definite 50/50 chance of a home final if we make it that far. 50/50 chance (or slightly less if being pedantic) of a home semi depending on the Wales and Austria results on Tuesday.
Christ what a way to win the match and **** love rewatching it
Didnt see it live due to work and only noticed rewatching the ref played on after the 3rd goal. My heart would not be able for that esp with that shot blocked and cleared
Avoid Italy and Sweden's path from starters but nice to be in that draw as very little of us expected it
Hallgrimssons contract expires when we get knocked out of qualifying. Tonights win has extended it until the play offs at least.
They could be trying to learn some of this stuff in their downtime. They're not on the pitch 24 hours a day. Plenty of players from around the world are able to attain a decent level of English by the time they come to play in the Premiership. You don't even have to be fluent, just communicative, and several Irish players have managed the feat in the past - Liam Brady played in Italy, Joh Aldridge played in Spain, Aidan McGeady played in Russia. And there are more resources than ever to accomplish this.
We're always saying that Irish players have been edged out in England and that our domestic league just isn't at a high level. For those Irish players potentially looking at a middling career in the Championship, maybe it's time they set their sights a bit higher?
We can still sneak into Pot 2 though. I assume when it comes to the four teams in each playoff the highest ranked team in the final gets home advantage.
I’d go with nothing is better. No point teaching some Irish lad the Dutch for where is the train station unless that’s a better than 5% chance he’s going to be using it. Probably just takes time away from the football part.
Delighted for the lad and he's having a smashing 25/26 season. Fingers crossed it can get him a big move next summer. Also it now gives HH something to think about as I still think Parrott wouldn't have started if Ferguson was fit. Work out a way to get two CFs onto the pitch perhaps.
Though can see him wanting to stick with Ogbene if fit as a support player for the CF so it's going to be up to Ev to win his place back now when he's next given a game.
The way things are going either one could give Keane's record a crack. Especially if one of them can stay regulars for the next 12 years. Parrott is already 15th on the list of goal scorers with 10 and Ferguson is 29th with 8 but jumps to 19th with one goal. Both should at least pass out Quinn. This window alone doubled Parrotts goal tally.
Big satisfaction in knowing that Orbán cnt got a sickening.
Thursday at 7 O Clock I have never felt so down about Irish football.
Hungary had just beaten Armenia which meant we had beat Portugal.
Thursday was great it really was. But today for me is a far better result because 1. We had win. 2. We came from behind 3. We scored 3 goals against good side.
I gave us no chance.
I will say though that I did give Parrott big up for past while so I take that.
Im just jealous of my friends who were at it.
The third goal reminds me of Robbie Keanes goal against Germany in 2002.
Second goal was sensational in fact the assist came from lofted through ball. A rare site in Irish football.
Beating a top team by more than goal on Thursday, followed up by beating a top side away from home after going goal behind not once but twice. And to actually get back to back wins. No idea what's going on but I enjoy it.
The u17s doing us proud too and a QF place awaits in Tuesday.
Better than nothing.
I don't think that's how the draw works. As it stands we will be away in the playoff semi against a team from pot 2.
The draw on Thursday will determine which team that will be and pair us with 2 teams in another semi.
The draw will also decide if the winner of our semi or the other semi is at home for the final.
And if both matches are away from home? So no guaranteed match
I don't think there'll be any handy draws. From the picture the teams in Pot 2 and 3 we could meet all look the same level. A rocking Aviva can make a difference if needed late one. And any final will likely be away from home.
They always sell season tickets this time of year - been on sale for a week or 2 now - even before the last 2 games they were saying season tickets would count towards loyalty for World Cup tickets/ playoff tickets etc
No issue advertising them for sale, but to say it guarantees a playoff ticket is blatantly false
