Drivers Licence: - any shorter than a 10 year one?

Hi, i have to renew my Drivers Licence today . I am 60 , and just drive car.
As far as I can see its to be a 10 year one at around €65 - I could do without splashing out that cash at this time of year ,

I thought they used to do cheaper 3 & 5 year drivers licence but all my research so far turns up that they do shorter licence if your driving buses or for medical reasons

Do anyone know if I can get a cheaper 3 or 5 year one without medical reasons?

Not to be a downer on the OP , but if someone who drives, can't pony up t the e cost of a 10yr licence, what car maintenance can't they afford either?

I have visions of bald tyres, leaking shocks, blown bulbs, worn cv joints etc etc

Well u need the provisional before ibt and theory test needed for both car and bike so license for both same cost.

Unless op was actually going to buy a bike, then add in gear for riding + the ibt.

But we all know that's not going to happen here 😂

Yes, not going to happen.

The only light on the horizon is the free licence at 70.

Apparently you can even get a free learners permit then but unsurprisingly demand is low 🙂

ah yes I get what you mean now , no but there may be some times/ the very odd time my wife might want me to drive her car - she has me as a named driver on her insurance

There isn't. It's only €35 to get a category added to a learner permit you already have. If you don't already have one, it's €45
