New thread as the last thread seems to be broken.
My god Portugal are Flakey, Felix is dreadful. They are there for the taking
They are playing with 10 men, too. Ronaldo has been dreadful.
Such a shame that a win here only means we can afford to win by 1 less goal against Hungary.
That bloody Armenia result...
Mr Barcelona? I miss him…
Hands up, massive boo-boo or misanalysis on my part
This has become quite interesting. 2 nil ahead and that is a big shock but fully deserved. Best half of a game in awhile.
Our counter attacks have been so slick. The through balls have been some of the best I've seen from Irish players. A little lacking with the final ball at times, but by God we have been so good. We deserve the win here.
Obviously incredible from Troy, just magnificent stuff - but huge credit to the manager too. Absolutely nailed the tactics and added real threat to the solid defense we saw in Portugal.
Immensely proud of that 45 from our lads. Real ballsy stuff.
Now that name is a blast from the past.
This is reminiscent of the job HH did v England for Iceland in 2016. Portugal should take Ronaldo off but does Martinez have the balls?
Have to give huge credit to Scales for a brilliantly cushioned and directed header on the run for the first goal assist.
Say it three times into a mirror and see what happens!!
Dalot, Dias and Felix have been worse than Ronaldo
Off, off, off....
LOL.
Roid Rage Ronnie
was cooking dinner - what did ronaldo do?
Swung an elbow at O'Shea. Yellow initially then upgraded with VAR.
wasnt surprised when i saw the red was for him. can be petulant/nasty when **** aint going his way.
come on ronnie, thats not a handball
Tell me why that's not a pen, nearly moves the hand to the ball? Are we in an AI simulation btw?
Not shocked ref didn't go to var for the penalty check
Ref gave a nearly identical free kick against Cullen in the opening 10 minutes.
3rd home match in this campaign where we've ended playing against 10 men.
Cullen has been very good.
I will happily watch the worst hoofball in years for the next 7 minutes.
eboselle might well be the least technical player I have ever seen 😂
Adam Idah is some lazy bollocks. Backs to the wall here and he's walking round not arsed to close anyone down.
Great performance today from Heimir, all the players, and the crowd.
Irish soccer badly needed a win like that. Whether Ireland qualify or not. That Portugal match can now be used a reference point of how they can play, and should play. Lack of confidence can no longer be an excuse.
Plus hopefully in 3/4 years a few of the u17 lads will have developed. Also in future maybe Irish players will look beyond the UK for a career as a pro? Parrott a great example to future generations.
Great win
