New thread as the last thread seems to be broken.
Well Holy God, Ireland's only gone ahead :)
Get in!!!!!
Get in
good lad TP
get in!!!! what a great corner
pen for me
twice now the final pass just aint good enough
I don't get why they keep doing that. It sucks all the enthusiasm out of the stadium - and for a crunch game too.
twas a half chance alright
Not exactly inspiring was it.
Another sending off for the opposition and we got this!, they are not unbeatable
Hopefully a better performance than the fella singing the anthem 😳
A draw still means a 2-goal win in Hungary would see us through.
Im almost happy we know only a win will do
Szoboszlai and whoever he passed it to at the end almost totally fuked Hungary. Totally stupid pushing for a second with about 30 seconds to go.
Would have been their fault if that terrible Armenia miss went in.
**** me what a miss in the last play by Armenia. Szoboszlai took a full 90 seconds to take that free kick in injury time and ref only plays 20 over the 4 minutes…not that it would likely have mattered.
its been taken quite well.
Parrot starts. Idah on the bench.
Might aswell go all out attack now against Portugal. Nothing to lose.
First nail in coffin ….
Let's hope we can spoil what could likely be Ronaldos last game in Ireland.
Castleknock Hotel. I saw HH walking away from the hotel about 30 mins ago, thought he’d be pushing it for time! Not sure what time they leave the hotel to get to the ground
VM2.
Any know where to watch the Hungary and Armenia game?
That 5 o clock kick off is really gonna inform the mood heading into the stadium. Either very dour, or absolutely jubilant.
Starting early as you need to be well oiled up when watching this Irish team.
The pubs out around Irishtown are starting to fill already.
yeah maybe, I mean whenever Parrott is brought up there’s people falling over himself to say he’s bang in form. It’s more complicated than that.
There is a tendency to talk about Idah like he’s basically useless while Parrott is far far superior. Football is more complicated than that when you’re talking about players who are fairly even in the level they’ve played at in their career so far.
There’s a tendency to look at goals in games ratios but really its far more important to look at skill sets suiting certain situations.
For what it’s worth i watched Idah play vs Preston for Swansea a week back and he impressed me how he stretched the Preston defense and took on defenders and laid the ball off. He fcuked up at times as well.
But the average Irish fan only sees the result, if that, and he played 90 and didn’t score.
I'm not sure we really need to be talking down the few bright sparks in the team. Since his injury he's played 5 league games, one short appearance right after the injury, and then 4 starts. In his 4 starts he's scored 3, across 2 games against Ajax and Utreacht. He'd a cameo in Europe in a win over Bratislava, and an unsurprising non-scoring start against Crystal Palace, which I wouldn't criticise him too much voer. We're not exactly blessed with superstars over here, and he's clearly, demonstrably, the best we've got on offer.
As for Idah chasing lost causes, to be honest that's one of the things i find him most frustrating with, always looks to run just enough to look like he's doing something, without ever having a hope in hell of actually doing anything. He's the ultimate flatters to deceive player for me. I do think he has merit off the bench if we end up pushing for something late on though, he actually is a decent poacher if a chance falls for him. Every single other aspect of his game is below par though.
You know in his last 5 games, Troy has scored 2 goals in one game and blanked in the other 4 and missed 2 penalties in those 5?
the narrative hes scoring freely …very debateable
Idah is stronger at chasing lost causes, Parrott a better footballer but football won’t come into it much tonight
I could be way wrong anyway how Heimar sees it
