Rumours: Steve Moffat is back to write the Christmas special.
Good to hear he's still open to writing for DW though his previous Christmas specials were quite hit and miss I thought. I'd be more excited if he was penning a regular series episode/two-partner.
His well ran a little dry by the end but by god if I had to choose between any of the old producers coming back it'd be Moffat over Davies in a heartbeat. I think he got the show far more than his predecessor ever did.
Assuming I couldn't resurrect Phillip Hinchcliffe that is.
Oh for sure, he's far better than Davies. I just had hopes for the return of the Moffat mid season belter like in the original RTD run. I think a 10 episode run of just Davies episodes is going to suck.
Tbh, I've even started to warm to Chibnall over RTD after giving the second season of Chibnall's/Whittaker's run a chance. Lots of controversial stuff there for sure, but no farting aliens, Master using his hands as jet packs, stupid pop songs everywhere. Giving the Master that "sound of drums" backstory just so he could work that awful Voodoo Child song into an episode...
Davis never had the ability to draw out an idea correctly like Moffat had.
I'd have loved to see what Moffat could have done with the Toymaker. Still though, was good episode.
I'm a casual Doctor Who fan. I've seen all of NuWho but only once and cannot remember almost all of the previous seasons. Anyway, I've just caught up with the first David Tennent episode after the Whittaker era, and there was an indication that the general public don't believe in aliens and that an alien crash landing would be a novel event.
If I remember correctly, Earth has been invaded many times by aliens throughout the NuWho era (and presumably during classic Who too).
Have I missed something that explains this discrepancy or is this just a plot hole.
Canon is not this show's strongest suit and often ignores or forgets any prior alien invasions. Given this universe has probably seen the most earth-threatening invasions of any SciFi series, it's probably for the best it doesn't even try to keep track.
It's also more a money thing cos creating a world used to invasion would get expensive.

The BBC working over time they have pulled an episode with Huw Edwards and are editing it and re-dubbing him.
They are also have removed a Children in Need promo because the stabbing suspect appeared in it dressed as the Doctor emerges from the Tardis.
Bloody he'll, what are the odds. Only vaguely familiar with the stabbings as I'm consciously avoiding the news but even it leaked through.
Mind you, if the BBC wanna go the whole hog they could just as well scrub Fear Her entirely from the lineup - ain't nobody would miss it.
Well, that's not good
That seems old news, pretty sure I saw a tweet or quote in the past week saying everything on course and nothing to worry about
Well now, this is interesting
Might give some of those audio books a go

Is it Doctor Who Day?
Answer thanks google!: - Today is the 23rd November, which means one thing – it's Doctor Who Day!
6 Hour stream: - Doctor Who DAY - 61 Years of Time and Space | Doctor Who
Fans of David Tennant? I know he has been in other shows!
Just watching on the player last night's episode with Danny Dyer.
Just cycling by the RDS and I can hear the 11th doctor theme being played. Wonder if there's some convention on there
Edit: apparently it was the horse show. Odd choice of music for it but hey I dig it, one of the organisers must be a Who fan.
Kate Phillips, chief content officer at the BBC, has spoken candidly on Doctor Who's future, saying the series will remain on the BBC "with or without Disney".The future of the sci-fi has remained uncertain since Ncuti Gatwa's exit at the end of season 15, which saw him regenerate into Billie Piper in a surprise twist.

Doctor Who will be back on our screens at Christmas 2026 with a special episode written by Russell T Davies.
With Disney+ confirming they will not be partnering on the next season of the sci-fi show, the BBC remain fully committed to the show and will announce plans for the next series in due course to ensure the Doctor’s adventures continue.
A pity Davis is atill attached as well. Dr Who needs a fresh new voice.
No Christmas special of the main show, I think? So the above will have to do instead?
Just don't call them Sea Devils

Double episode on December 7th then weekly until december 28th.
Haven't seen any mention of John Barrowman/Captain Jack being in this which is a little odd because they seemed to be setting something up last time both himself and Russel Tovey were on screen. I guess with the vague controversy rumours weren't enough to bother Chibnall but enough to bother Davies.
Well that was…bland
Lots of talking and preaching
I enjoyed the hour and half of it. And got engrossed in the screening of it. It kept my attention.
Barclay and family had too much unneeded screen time for my liking, I know they need to humanize it in some fashion.
(Unfortunate name given the Star Trek character)
Well they were two much better episodes - had me hooked throughout
Still keep expecting the Doctor to turn up to save the day
First episode tonight kind of against what is actually capable to be done. Not very realistic, ever hear of the bends?
Second episode more engaging and enjoyable.
1 more episode next weekend.
You missed the timey wimey explanation?
