How much would these guys get paid just to do the links? Can't be many hours in it per week.
200 quid per show for freelancers was the fee last time I heard.
So Ronan would be on 50k a year and Fanning on 60k for 6/7.5 hours work a week? Great earner for 2 lads who are in retirement.
( if you strip out the music, and it's just links they're doing, it would be an hour of content for Dave per show and maybe and 1.5 hours for Ronan?)
They could surely hire a presenter who'd happily work for that.

Top 100 place name songs. Already had Baker Street and lesser known Sinatra and Bagatelle songs so presumably it’s shaping up to be New York, New York versus Summer in Dublin for the top spot
about half of them London based ( maybe an exaggeration) but that plus American cities getting most of the attention. Still a good chart and more entertaining than the usual weekday automated output
I think they should have just one song per place name, instead of having a few songs with Dublin in the title, or London, New York etc. There are plenty of place name songs to have each title being unique.
Bloody Fairytale of New York has to be in every Rte Gold chart. Followed predictably by New York x2. Vienna, Wichita line man and summer in Dubland giving a very dull Top5. As always the lower placers songs are the better less obvious ones
I had to mute when Fairytale came on. I love Wichita Line Man, but agree re the the others.

what’s this thing Ronan is saying about Herb Alpert playing every morning 7 minutes before the start of his Radio 2 breakfast show? Was there a start up tape for Radio 2 in the mornings? Think Ronan started at 6.30am?
ronan does not announce roundy birthdays or any listener celebrations anymore. unfortunately he does not take requests, which was a big part of his Radio 1 show.
Whoever is picking them it has been a great choice.
I'd say it's Al himself, I always notice a much better music selection when he's on.

Rte gold ignores a lot of the 90’s music too. No dedicated programme and ignore anything that isn’t mainstream pop or guitar based rock
