Irish firefighter found guilty of rape in Boston!

Surprised there hasn’t been more in the news about this but seems the election coverage took over.

Personally I think he did it but many don’t. Wonder what kind of a sentence he’s looking at & will he able to serve some of it in an Irish prison.

Apparently, his wife & parents attended the trial, gutted for them but not him

Carries up to a twenty year prison sentence. Won't be easy on him, but he did the crime, he's going to have to live with the consequences. Definitely a disaster for his family though, you'd have to feel sorry for them, especially his wife and children.

I doubt he'll get the full 20 as I think this is his first conviction and there wasnt any physical violence(except the rape itself) or threats involved. Also, Im sure they'll put forward mitigation on his behalf. But given the high profile nature in the boston area of it and the fact he please not guilty throughout, I can see him getting a sentence at least in the double figures. 12 would be my guess

Very sad for his family and his wife. He has just destroyed his family and his life by one stupid action.

Still I think the term rape needs to be looked at. Like did he come up behind her on a street pull her skirt and knickers down and rape her there without her consent. No I doubt it. This is more a falling for or tricked into in rape. She invited him to her room or he invited her to his. They frolicked for a while had some foreplay or maybe not and lay on the bed beside each other then maybe it happened but she had not said she wanted intercourse maybe he had not asked for her consent so its seen as rape. Maybe she was asleep beside him when he done it I dont know. Should it be also seen as a lesser rape than on a street? I don't know. Thats for the justice system to decide I guess it comes down to how violent it was. Should it be seen and given a lesser sentence than someone doing it to a woman or a man on the street I do not know.

Should he serve the full 20 years I don't know.

She was with another guy he was out with, they had consensual sex and she fell asleep in the bed next to him in the hotel room as he was spread out like a starfish on the bed they were in was how she put it. Crosbie comes back later. He says he got into the bed and saw her getting dressed and leaving without touching her. She says she woke up to him inside her which she then told him to stop, she then got out of the room & hotel asap before later going to the hospital. They found two male profiles inside her, one of the guy she was with and one unidentified.

I’ve been following this a little since it happened in 2024.

I think the verdict is correct.

both had few inconsistencies in their stories but Terry had some blatant lies

1) he told police that if there were any dna on the victim, it was because he had a wNk in his bed in the morning, whilst his roommate was downstairs having breakfast . They didn’t book in until after breakfast was finished being served.

the victim said that he addressed his roommate as a friend. Terry said he never says “friend” but “mate” instead. A few mins later in court, he described his roommate as a work friend …….

when being interviewed he asked police straightaway what is the definition of rape - strange question to ask , if nothing happened …..

then the fleeing away didn’t paint him in a good light

her inconsistencies …

says never met Terry before, yet cctv shows them hugging and being introduced earlier that evening

She said he was the same height as her - he’s well over 6ft

Didn’t notice any of his significant tattoos despite the light being on in the room

said he kissed her breasts - no dna

2 sets of dna found inside her - one the consensual participate and the other couldn’t be proven to be Terry ‘s or not

I think on balance, Terry’s sounded scripted than an actual account

the first trial was deadlocked that the jury couldn’t decide on the result

either way very very sad for his wife and daughters

I don’t think there will be any deal to make him do his time here - can you imagine the backlash for anyone attempting this? All the rape charities and what not would be up in arms and quite rightly so

You'd have to view any trial in the US through very skeptical glasses. Its a bit of a shìtshow, the Jason Corbett debacle just clarified that further.

From my understanding there are too many questions on both sides to convict and without any DNA evidence its really just her word against his. A very flimsy way to convict anyone of such a serious crime. The fact she couldn't pin point any details whatsoever makes it all the shakier.

For me, one of the biggest markers of his guilt was him getting the early flight back, we'd all be panicked, nervous if accused of something like that but you dont run especially to a country which has an extradition treaty back to america like Ireland. It makes you look bloody guilty.

The DNA, him saying he had a **** in the bed the morning before this all happened. Felt like he was trying to come up with an excuse if there was DNA of his found on her or in her.

A critical part of the trial is where this unidentified second male piece of dna was found, if it was in her private area, he looks even guiltier as she would have had to have sex with another man within 3 or 4 days of this incident for it to be still there. The reports havent confirmed exactly where this unknown male dna was found.

He was caught in a couple of lies also, saying we dont say loser in Ireland, its said all the time & the friend thing. Kissing another woman in a bar within hours of getting off the plane didnt paint him in the best light either.

I think hes guilty or was incredibly stupid & caught in numerous lies which made him look guiltier through sheer stupidity.

I watched a video and commentary online about the trial- her testimony to police is in my view, extremely strong and went a long way to secure the conviction when you take the following into account …..between this and other aspects there’s no doubt in my mind

“Jurors in the second trial also heard that when Crosbie was initially questioned by police, he asked whether the complainant

had alleged that someone had “pinned her down” in the bed, before he was informed by officials that that was in fact her allegation – an account that hadn’t made it into the first trial.”
