I'm curious as to why it is you and @Electric Nitwit can't get into the new album? Too different, not different enough or just tired of their sound?
Ah I'm not nailing myself to that mast yet. That's based on one listen. That would be typical irrational behaviour from me, take a band i like, hear one song that grates, immediately drop them. Give me a few more plays and I'll get back to you.
Is the new album generally not getting good feedback?
For me it's that they've moved from their old DIY-garage style to a more polished style, lyrics are less personal. I don't dislike it at all, I just don't love it. Their peak sound, for me, was probably the Modern Job EP, though I really loved the debut album too
From the little I've seen online I think reviews are generally very good

Ah yeah, me too. And the couple of times I've heard a song out of context I've liked it, I think I just bring an unreasonable level of expectation when I put the album on

Saw Dark Tropics upstairs Whelans tonight would highly recommend catching them. Lead singer has a fabulous voice and great front woman. A bit rockier live than on record which makes their tunes even better
Just stuck it on there and the songs are nowhere near as memorable as the first album for me. Admittedly only 1 listen, but saw Sprints twice for the first album and quite pleased not to be going based off this tbh
... Does that come with free Jameson I wonder.

Couple of memorable songs straight off the bat for me. They’ve been upgraded to the A playlist on 6 music for Better.
Worth giving it a couple more spins. Great album for me and should be good live.
At last year's one you got a voucher for a cocktail when they scanned your ticket and were handed a glass of whiskey inside the door.
That gig is Whelan's upstairs so less tickets to shift. Although they were €25 so a nice saving here.
Hitting our shores this week. Wouldn't be into all of it but there's enough to make me go. I mostly like the tunes that you'd expect to hear soundtracking Peaky Blinders.

Good enjoyable gig for a Monday night! He is pretty eccentric but good fun.
Support was from a local band called Milkshake Millionaires. Seemed very young and very new but some potential there. Every song was essentially 3 completely different songs interwoven into one, worked for Wings but undecided it works for them. Sounds like they're on support duties for a good few upcoming gigs.
The support band was Softdrink Millionaire.
Yeah, they were interesting alright, lot's going on there, a bit of Pavement, some scuzzy indie guitar, a nice instrumental, not sure what they are but they have something alright.
Saw these playing support i think for Whores and thought they'd something about them. Might interest a few here

The Last Dinner Party album out today and getting great reviews - wonder if this will translate to selling out 3arena
standing isn’t even sold out and plenty of seats in the few blocks they are opening. The show was never intended or budgeted to sell out the 3 arena. It was intended to make a profit on smaller set up.
Heading to Other Voices Cardigan in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations from the music trail beyond the relatively well known acts?
Full venue is on sale most seats left are only in section a-b or g so id say its doing just fine, biggest show of the tour and a friday event will help ship loads in the final week or two
Suil Amhain. I have been listening to his album frequently for the last year. I like it.
High Vis and Gurriers added to the Turnstile gig in a couple of weeks. Very solid support
High-Vis were always the support since the original national stadium date.
