The two Johnnie's are to move to the iconic mid-morning Gerry Ryan slot and Jen Z goes to drive according to the red tops today https://www.rsvplive.ie/news/celebs/2fm-planning-major-shake-up-32825017
I’ve come to the conclusion that she’s content with what she’s doing. She’s better than some of the presenters currently on the roster. I would of thought she could take a presenting job if she really wanted.
Least its not Lottie - 40 in a few weeks - over a decade there and cant get a regular slot…youd be embarrassed if you were in her position
It does not really make much sense to make these changes for a few months. The JNLR results will be met with
"You have to remember that we need things to settle. 2FM has had two changes over the last 2 months and it will be bedded down in the next year, that's when we can really take a look at how things are going with the station."
As i said above, i found Demi and Mikey good for the show they do Sat/Sunday afternoons, but there is a world of difference in carrying that "who cares" slot which is fun filled backgound noise mostly and the Drivetime slot. Hopefully then Doireann comes back from ML she will be back in there, she has been the best presenter of it in years.
I enjoy Doireann and Hugh and Taireann on drive
The other two replacements I've heard a few times, they're dire
I am so out of touch with 2FM. I don't recognise any of those names apart from Doireann.
Demi and Mickey are awful and in different locations makes it worse. I thought the breakfast wasn’t great but the current lot have made it worse. You’ve Carl and Aisling fighting over who’s trying to be the funny one but not funny at all.
Demi was in The Young Offenders.
Hugh Carr will be looking after weekend breakfast, while Helen Galgay and Benny Bracken are moving into Demi & Mikey's slot.
Looks like Doireann managed to get back on the RTE gravy train just in time to go on maternity leave. Demi Isaac (?) and Mikey O'Reilly taking over Drivetime from tomorrow.
well, for the past month or so I've been listening to 2FM a fair bit and I have to say I think its a hell of a lot better and cleaner than it used to be. I got fed up/depressed by my long listening to Current Affairs programs, felt spin was too noisy and repetitive and TBH nobody on Today FM appeals to me anymore so I just listened to pods from around may till august which was why i stopped posting here as well. Needed some radio driving around on the holidays went to 2FM.
The Good
Having each show listing 3 hours works. Drivetime show with Doireen is actually to me the best one out there, no shouting and she works very well on (mostly) her own. New Music show is great, and the early afternoon show on the weekend is very good as well, the presenters mix well.
The not so good
The weekend morning show is a bit "you can open a can???!! oh mhayyyyy gaud! Fantastic" .Game On still veers from very good to appalling in presenter quality on any given evening.
The bad
The website/social media.
Whats the track of the week? They played it a few times yesterday, and for aul lads who cant remember you'd think its on the website. No. The Spotify Track of The Week? Not updated since 2020. The Twitter account? Not updated since August, only a few posts since March. Instagram? Nope.
There is someone running the Instagram account, cant that person not manage all of their SM?
I there anything to discuss???
Is this the main thread to discuss 2FM? Anyway... another A to Z winner.
https://www.rte.ie/entertainment/2025/0529/1515590-2fm-hits-the-road-for-festival-season-2025/
Seems it will be relatively scaled back compared to back in the day, but good to see 2fm back at the festivals.
Their coverage of wittnness/oxegen and the early ep's was great. Shows would come from the site all day with lots of live sets and interviews. More of that would be great, tho I fear this year's shows will be more about festival "experiences" rather than the music.
Journalists take note. Seems worthy of FOI request.
I saw that! I thought it was unwinnable! Brilliant performance. I think she had 7 seconds to spare, so any delays and she would have been toast. She was very fast with her answers too, which earned her a few seconds over the 26 questions.
The A-Z quiz was won this morning
Might be some movement of DJ with the setting up DAB. ONIC HITS ?
I hear Shireen Langan is about to leave SPIN 1038, could she possibly be in line for a 2FM show?
Loddie will be delighted a vacancy will arise - but again RTE will overlook her for some social media "personality"
With regards to the question posed in your last paragraph - RTÉ had to ask her agent first.
Delighted for Doireann Garrihy Enterprises Inc. I hope this baby brings her lots of commercial opportunities, sponsorships, gifts, articles in VIP Magazine, “collabs” happiness.
Didn't she say she was leaving to "pursue the projects I've been dreaming about" before coming back six months later? I mean, who among us hasn't had lifelong projects that we completed within six months?
I assume she left thinking companies would be queuing up to partner with her or they'd be an offer from another broadcaster, when it didn't happen, she came back. And for some reason, 2FM didn't hold it against her and gave her a top slot straight away.
Nothing has changed, has it?
she departed 2FM at the time (not sure 'exactly' why) a big shock announcement and 6 months later she returns ?
was anyone else in the running for the drivetime show or did she push her way back into 2FM too land herself a steady job rather than relying on social media / podcasting work?
So women who might be having children shouldn't get jobs now, is it?
"I'm so looking forward to the arrival of my first child in a few months. I'll miss my sleep for sure, but I'm confident he or she will sleep well in their lovely cot from the Bouncy Baby Superstore on the Naas Road and their gorgeous babygro from Beau Bébé in Glenageary."
"Now…any nappy companies looking to sponsor me?"
a cushy number on her part
Is she? Great timing for her
A great idea to bring Doireann back. Especially know she’s expecting
Just gave it another listen armed with a stopwatch. She spent less than 5 seconds on every single question. In fact she went over 4 seconds on just five questions. It's not looking good for anyone even if they know all the answers.
So then you're talking about getting the answer in as soon as you think you know either what the question is going to be ("What J played Rachel Gree..." → Jennifer Aniston) or that there's only one possible answer (e.g. "What O is a county that…" → Offaly, it doesn't matter what the rest of the question is). And you'll need a ton of luck that the question isn't something that's gonna kill you then and there. For example, if you've never heard of Ulysses by James Joyce and that's your U question, you're screwed.
