I have been on GP since day one. Yes back when you could get it for buttons. It was a great service as I played many games even day one releases so I got my moneys worth and then some.
It was always on my mind how can they afford this. Looking back they must have done it cheap deliberately so people can sign up and get use out of it and see it is a great service and now they finally have decided to actually try make money from it.
Wow, that's good, only way to make them listen is to hit them in the pocket. God be with the days when it was just €59 per year to have the online element and just Gold games. Now looking at over €300 per year on the Ultimate plan, mental. Effectively another streaming cost. They wont be happy until they have all our money
Good to see. Easy to boycott when it's simply too expensive now. Hardly worth it. The folks old enough to have been using it for years probably don't have as much time to play it, and the younger folk probably can't afford it now, it's a weird one. I guess they're expecting a lull and kickback now with an increase in users around Christmas time
Well the cancellation portal for Microsoft subscriptions crashed after the announcement of this increase.
Holy smokes that's some shake up, 30 is far too much. I only every play those niche indie games these days usually buying stuff when on sale and going from there. No way going near the top tier. Mid priced one at best.
3 years is coming to an end in Januaury, is it worth adding 12 months now, or has the price shot up across the board? Cd keys is about 100 for 12 months
That's a savage increase on Ultimate, an 80% increase. Suppose it was bound to happen.
I'll drop back to the Premium tier for now, not too bothered by day 1 games, majority of them aren't worth shouting about most of the time. If I want a particular game I'll buy it, but they will be few and far between, don't game as much as I used to.
I wonder how many will drop Ultimate to go Premium, be interesting to see what happens
There have been bugs with recurring billing where people are still paying the original price so keep it on and see what tier the system says you're on.
So my GPU ran out there last month after the 3 years and I forgot to turn off recurring billing. Charged me 12.99 today for a month and said next charge will be 12.99. I assume that means they are going to downgrade me to the premium tier or is it possible I'll be retaining GPU at that price point so long as I don't turn off recurring billing I wonder?

Ok, is cdkeys legit? Reliable? I am currently paying 14.99 monthly for ultimate. Want to keep it. Was looking to buy a year (or two if possible) in advance to potentially head off this rise. Didn't see any option with MS

It was bound to happen. We got it for pennies for a few years with the cheap deals. I don't know how they afforded to give us so many day one games and not make anything. I also do not have much time to play so many games these days so I'm not sure I will subscribe for a year at a time. I have a fair few games to get through atm without even playing any GP games.

My existing 3 year sub is up in December. I probably wasn't going to renew anyway as I don't have the time to play multiple games anymore but definitely wouldn't be renewing at $30/month or whatever the euro equivalent will be.

Gamepass is the killer feature of Xbox. With it and I'd argue it's the obvious console pick, without it and it's not. If they make it too expensive then what's the point?
Now there are rumours of the lower Game Pass tiers being rebranded with PC Game Pass being rolled into standard and no longer having access to day 1 games. GPU is also getting a significant price increase.
I was able to redeem a 3 month PC Pass and 1 month GPU which should give me 3 months GPU total.
You can get about 1,060 points per week if you do all the Xbox rewards plus another 400 per month for playing 8 different Game Pass titles.
If you aren't a PC gamer you could run Solitaire for 15 minutes on your PC per day to get the 10 PC pass points and the 150 weekly bonus for playing 5 days.

Just got 2 codes there, to use up some points before the change.
Both codes were valid until 22/01/2027 😁
Last few codes I got on 10/05/2025, 06/07/2025 and 28/08/2025 said it was valid until 24/10/2026, so you should get about 13 months to use it.
Not so sure why that date is the common valid until date on the recent codes, maybe something happens on that date!
If I redeme now do I get a code I can use later?
You will only be able to redeem for local currency and then use that for the sub. 24,450 points for €25 which will give you enough for 1 month of Ultimate with €7 change. Redeeming directly for the sub atm would get you 2 months of Ultimate for 24,000.
