Start of September last year lambs were 7.00 euro plus bonus.
They stayed 7 euro until mid October and started rising after that.
I don't know about previous years.
Hopefully they'll stay where the are, fingers crossed
ICM have dropped the price this week. They're always first to drop the price
What price?
Just reading the IFJ this morning and the quote is down 10c
Its the cost of your transport i guess.
8euro a kg is still good money , I wonder are we in the flush of lambs now or has it past ? Or how long till the flush drops off
I've lambs gone today , 8.13/kg, compared with 8.23 last week
Never seen the price at an interval other than 10. Did you get the 3 cent from bargaining?
Base price is based on the average of three quotes on IFJ , the three cents comes if one factory quotes 10c more than other two.
Lambs made €173 yesterday, liveweight 47kg. they got a lot of free meat this week. Lambs did a huge thrive since the last wieghing
Lambs are down 10 cent this week.
I have 40 lambs between 43 and 50 kgs.
I'm wondering would I be better just letting them all go to the factory. They'll kill out over 18kg. Getting meal ad-lib in the field. Hate holding onto them and the price dropping .
What do people think
Kill anything 46 plus.cut the others back to 1kg a day or even a bit less. Let them run on of you've no shortage of grass.
Agree - hold onto the lighter lambs as price usually starts to rise again in October and yes definitely cut back on the meal
Thanks folks, I was out round them this morning and think I should just sell everything 😄.
It's awful weather today. I'll go through them the weekend and see what's ready to go and cut back on the rest then. Thanks
What weight is Kildare paying to now? sent the last couple of lots to the mart and was happy enough … just suited as I was on the lookout for a few breeders and it cut down on travel time.
22kg for the last 3 weeks
have factories pulled price again? Or is all in 8 still going ?
Was there much in Baltinglass on Saturday? Looking for stores
Any prices from Kildare chilling, have 10 or 15 to go so it's them or blessington Tuesday,Kildare is closer but looking at mart prices seem steady enough
I’d go to Kildare. Only hot 148 for 48kg lambs last week. Would have taken them home only I had to drop and couldn’t get back . Was raging . However sold stores of 35kg for €150 so probably average out ok
Jeez sorry but that's very bad, I brought home 47kg lambs as I was only getting €160. How the hell have they killed 340,000 less sheep this year and they're still trying to pull prices.
Jas that was a terrible price for 48kgs.
Surely lamb price will have to lift soon
oh it was absolut robbery. Should have brought to factory. They were absolut beauts but just can’t get time with Job so had to let being to mart.
48kgs were all making between 160 and 165 in Athenry today so you were definitely done unfortunately
Id say mine might be a bit smaller than yours so I might try factory if I can get there and see what they are offering, thanks
can you not bring to factory thr night before
Father ended up bringing to mart 40kg made 145.Reasonable enough not much difference from last year,no point keeping them on here as grass is poor enough and would have to feed them meal to get much bigger.Mart was blessington
oh I normally do but I’m working away from home at moment for few weeks so just have sat to get things done.
Was that in baltinglass?
Last lot were brought off today,144 for 43kg and 88 for 26kg.The small ones were same age as bigger lambs but were just small framed from birth either a smaller twin or triplet.Never really had such a disparity in size for a while so not sure what happened.
Only change was a new ram a 2yr old rouge×textel first timer but hes a fine big healthy lad.Maybe they were lacking in something or they're getting on a bit.
Any sign of a lift in prices anywhere lads ?
