Some comeback right there. Kingscourt hard beat like that
Coming back into it. Might be too late though. Must be a stronger wind tonight?
Gowna vs Crosserlough
Ballyhaise/Kingscourt vs Ramor
Kingscourt up against it so far
Ramor don’t tend to hammer teams. They just stroll along at their own pace. They always kept Mullahoran at arms length and pulled away when they needed.
Ramor are a team will grind out a result against anyone when needed.
Poor enough game last night where defence was on top for both teams. Ramor will need to improve but in Enda Maguire and Conor Bradley they have too serious players. Mullahoran can be happy enough too, they have a young team and look to have a few players developing who can help Cormac O Reilly out.
Pitch held up well enough in the end but some rain last night. Is there any chance of tonight's game being moved?
Two very wasteful teams tonight. Ramor will need to find another gear and quickly.. Nothing I've seen in the Championship so far suggests that they could beat any of the other 3 (presuming Kingscourt win) in the next round.
Sacrificing Beanies running with the ball and general play around the middle worked well though. Cormac Rielly hardly had a sniff all night and frustration won over in the end..
There definitely is another gear or two though so all hope in not lost on Virgina
Yeah Mullahoran were waseful. Ultan O Reilly was very impressive. County Minor last year.
Gowna have looked the best team from the quarter finals so far. Kingscourt have been going well and will be interesting to watch them tomorrow night.
Mullahoran kicked that one away. So so many 2 point chances way wide, and then caught for the goal. Ultan O'Reilly looks a player though
That was a poor game Ramor v Mullahoran..maybe cicumstamces of playing on a Tuesday had a part. 1- 11 by Ramor is low scoring with the new rules.
Cutting edge reports from Chris Kamara.
Paul Fitz tweeted this yesterday at 4.30 after I had broken the story earlier that day about pointless Masters fixtures on our county ground yet we were told it couldn’t be used for juvenile finals… [quote] Game going ahead. But it has started to rain again... Wisdom of playing two Masters finals on the pitch yesterday has to be questioned, especially when no U14 or U16 finals were permitted on it in recent weeks "to protect the pitch".
[\quote] This was after he had previously “borrowed” my idea of the Senior championship being two groups of 4 and recommissioned my point re the juvenile finals not being in Breffni.
And that’s not even mentioning my world exclusive about our new county manager weeks back. I should be getting referral fees here.
Brandon Boylan has been solid for Crosserlough at half back. He has played in the forwards, but a good asset from half back with his pace. A player who would get starting for Cavan. Might not have the interest though.
You could see the pitch was starting to cut up during the Gaels Gowna game on Saturday evening, obviously with the heavy showers then the water started to pool on the pitch, that will get cleared for tomorrow but rain forecast at time of KO so won't take much for it to turn into a mess again. Clearly playing two Masters games on Saturday given the weather as everyone has alluded to was beyond stupid and now two more games to be played on it midweek before the junior and intermediate semi's in there this weekend.
Gaels were very poor on Saturday, was actually expecting them to make a game of it with Gowna but got destroyed on their own KO's and in the middle of the field, Gowna looked to be in 2nd gear for most of the second half.
Absolute farce in Breffni yesterday, how they thought it was a good idea to lump two masters games in there on Saturday on top of everything else with the weather we've had and what had been forecast over the weekend is beyond me. No effort was made to even try to have it ready either, it was only after the second inspection when they started to prong it with forks.
They also blocked a load of us from entering Breffni at 3:30pm - leaving us to stand outside in the rain, even though no decision had been made yet and there were already supporters in the ground.
I cannot see it being in any better condition on Tuesday given the rain that is coming today and tomorrow. If I was a betting man, I'd say it will be moved to Kingscourt. I hope they have some arrangements to reimburse people who bought tickets, mid week game may not suit people especially if it is moved to Kingscourt.
Gowna/Gaels on Saturday - Gaels were very wasteful, Gowna were ruthless. They are shaping up nicely for the semi finals.
Ah yes I forgot the evening's are fucked. Its down for Brefini but jesus I don't know, its down to rain until then.
Lavey or Crosskeys don’t have match lights. The only pitches with match lights are Templeport, Mullahoran or Cuchulainns I think.
Yes so you agree it is the county board stopping juvenile finals from been played in Breffni.
Absolutely taking the piss here. Did no one look at the weather forecast at 4:20 after the game was was deemed to be able to be played. It was fairly obvious that one more spill of rain would have it called off.
I'd doubt we will be back in Brefini Tuesday evening. Lavey or Crosskeys a possibility
Overuse is their reason and then they’ve pointless items on it like the Masters. Ask any of the lads of the Masters on it which should take precedence and they’ll tell you the same.
Playing two masters game on a wet weekend before the most important few weeks of club championships looks a poor decision at best now. Not exactly giving great weather for the week ahead either
Forecast not great for the week. Whatever the pitch will be like on Tuesday.
It's off now. Correct decision, pitch a mess with further rain. Down for Tuesday night now
It's not the Masters that is stopping Juvenile finals though it's the county board..
Pitch a mess but going ahead. The played in terrible conditions for the County final last year so probaly no surprise
Pitch inspection at 4:15, throw in at 5 if we are going ahead.
Jesus imagine they played the country final in a storm last year.
It is relevant. The county board said that Breffni isn’t being used for juvenile finals to avoid over use yet they are allowing Masters games on it. I wouldn’t even see the Masters as a proper competition to be honest. It’s a social outlet for a lot of the fellas and a good one but it shouldn’t take precedent over juvenile finals
The Mullahoran Ramor game is still showing as at 6 on Cavstream for me. Looks like the crew haven’t copped it was moved to 4 so no live coverage.
The Masters are not stopping juveniles from playing in Breffni so that isn’t relevant. The only people who are stopping them is the County Board.
In saying that clubs who pay levys into Breffni park every month/year have more right to have games in there than those who don't.
Is there some arrangment that the Masters final are in Breffni regardless of who is playing. The finals were there last year too. Derry would have been more suitable for Donegal v Tyrone.
I don’t see why that comment is relevant to be honest - I’d remove the word “ladies’’. I don’t know the ins and outs of politics between the two governing bodies but the ladies should have access to it too. That said, juvenile finals should take precedent over club games, regardless of level or LGFA/GAA.
The Masters are lads over 40. I’m sure the majority of them wouldn’t mind playing elsewhere to let juveniles use Breffni for their finals. Most of them will have played in Breffni as they’ve had long careers. A young juvenile may never get to adult level.
