Another question for those in the know; can one of those heavy 15kW batteries be installed horizontally rather than vertically? Our attic is floored, but not 100% sure if standing a 100kg+ battery on a narrow base is the best idea in an attic.
Follow up question now that I think of it; maybe the attic isn't great, as it gets mighty hot in there during the summer and again the flooring might not be perfect for such a heavy battery. Has anyone installed their battery well away from the inverter and if so, it is a big pain to connect the two as a result? I'm thinking we could put the battery in a utility room, but that is two floors below the inverter… the inverter and the fuse box in the utility room are already connected via a cable the guys doing the initial solar installation ran along the outside of the house. Possibly could install the battery in the 2nd floor landing outside the attic, and run a cable through the wall and on to the inverter, much closer than the utility room downstairs. I guess an electrician could help with that? Sorry for the questions, I am truly clueless having never seen a battery in situ.
Generally a battery is within 2m of inverter, you will have to beef up the cables if going further
Ah, thanks. The attic it is so. Maybe we reinforce the flooring before it goes in. But laying the battery on its side (if it is one of those Seplos models) rather than having it vertical will help, if that's possible - can't find any guidance on that unfortunately.
Hi all
Am I right in thinking that none of the above DIY/Pay another DIYer options are open to owners of Huawei inverters?
Thanks
Hi, just buy one of these no need to lay anything on its back or side.

Correct. I've Huawei and no battery
I see Nkon do premade 16kWh batteries for €1600, plus about €250 shipping to Ireland. NKON ESS Pro - 51.2V 16.1kWh Thuisbatterij. Any downsides to this?
It will be in my shed outside connected to a storage controller I've to buy (I've Huawei inverter so can't use that)
Not available for 1 month, but saves the hassle of NI delivery with likes of Fogstar and buying from more than 1 supplier (cells from NKON and case somewhere else).
They have a model for €200 less but not available for 2 months.
It looks just like the earlier fogstar ones. -They are all made in china, likely a seplos bms. All the boxes are good now by the looks of it.
As long you get decent power capacity out to theshed you'll be fine.
MB31 cells are top notch. That's a great price for a hell of a lot of storage
What electrical setup does the shed have?
I need to do something similar, are you planning to just charge at ev overnight rate and not integrate with solar?
What is the king term view if the cheap overnight electricity disappears, would you have to change to a suitable hybrid inverter then?
Has anyone got a SEPLOS 14kW battery?
What sort of weight are they? Okay for the attic?
Roughly 100kgs
I had chipboard attic floor on plastic loft legs. Replaced chipboard with thick plywood (risk of chipboard softening with any damp, etc) and ran a spare 9-inch timber I had (same height as loft legs) as a spine under it to spread the load across 6/7 trusses. Maybe over-engineered, but I may possibly add a second battery. Battery also happens to be sited above a junction of non-load bearing stud walls…. it’ll help a bit to support the trusses from underneath, I guess.
Just wondering would it not be better to hang the battery off the block wall in the attic, than loading 100-120kg on trusses?
Some aren't designed to be wall mountable - and certainly not the 15kW type boxes
AC type mount on the wall maybe, they hold surprising weights
So what are our battery options?
My solar installation has been the most expensive and worst quality job I've yet to see
Supposed to be addressed to DC999
Either a Huawei battery or swap the inverter for one that will work with 48v and get the battery kits.
I thought Huawei was pulling out of the UK soon? That will most likely happen here as well or will it? One to think about in case they do.
And let me guess, Huawei batteries are stupid expensive?
Especially when compared to a Seplos type 15kWh, and coupled with the fact that a 5kW Huawei can't charge a Huawei battery @ 5kW
Fogstar 16 kwh fully assembled for £1,485 with free Delivery to NI ! Yes or No ?

Tempting!
Apparently Huawei UK is pulling out of the solar battery market and not selling the LUNA branded BESS systems there anymore. I wonder if Ireland might also be affected?

How do people deal with the Fogstar delivery to NI? I have no access to an address there.
Usually postal services, I think there's one near Newry, and then drive to pickup.
I've heard nkon.nl have cells and box combos now too.
Has anyone managed to install one of the 15/16 kWh premade batteries in the attic? is there an easy way, something like a hoist. even getting up the stairs seems like a pain
NKON ESS Pro - 51.2V 32kWh Thuisbatterij
Would be nice, €3680 delivered. Anyone interested in taking my Seplos 15.5kWh battery!
I think @SD_DRACULA used a hoist to do it before.
Nah I just built it up there, box first and then the cells
