New Direct Friday Sept 12th. Announced in the Nintendo Today app. 14:00 Irish time.
60 minutes! Jesus…
It was to be expected Friday. Mario's 40th anniversary is this Saturday, so wouldn't be surprised if that takes up a chunk of the hour. Mario Galaxy 2 has to feature this time around.
We haven't had a proper Direct in half a year so it should be very good. Lots of rumours swirling about the 3rd party games that will feature.
Silksong?
(gotta use this joke while it's still relevant)
Better not be a combined 45 minutes of Air Riders and Pokemon Legends Z-A (with 15 mins left for everything else).
Wouldn't be surprised though.
That's the problem with these. We hear 60 mins but then they get onto a new animal crossing with all the thrilling details about gardening and the like. No offence to Animal Crossing fans but 15 minutes of that boring stuff is not good.
Was it the last 60 min direct where the second half was a Sakurai slot?
Silksong DLC?
60 minutes is a lot. Fingers crossed Metroid Prime 4 is holding to its "2025" release. Age of Imprisonment might get a date for Feb/March 2026. Something for Mario's 44th, or wait until 45th next year with Zelda's 40th.
I do hope they don't spend much time on games we know enough about, including their release dates, like Pokemon and Kirby. I expect this Direct to focus a good portion on first half of 2026.
Where N offers a new Ambassador's program with free Switch 2's for lads in their 40's whose kids use up all the funds in the house and so the new console remains on the long finger
Jeez @Mr E you could’ve told us you were in the new Yoshi game!
Some amount of crap but the Mario Galaxy release is nice. If only they did the same with Twilight Princess and Wind Waker.
EDIT: They're not doing very well here. Virtual Boy…. nobody needs that crap.
Metroid Prime 4 out on December 4th.
Bananza DLC looks good too.
I forgot about the Direct. I'll watch it later.
You'll be skipping through it. 😂
DK paid DLC is just collecting stuff against a time limit?
Stellar Direct. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (and bundle), Mario Wonder DLC, DK Bananza DLC, Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment Nov 6th, Prime 4 Dec 4th, Yoshi game looks beautiful. Plenty for the rest of the year and plenty to look forward to look forward to in 2026. Resident Evil 9 was an unexpected mic-drop.
Not sure I'd go with stellar…..
But RE9 looks good. The bike looked a bit trash in Metroid but hopefully it'll be a great game.
Fire Emblem just doesn't do it for me anymore though.
To each their own. It was a 9/10 Direct for me. Lost a point because the RE9 trailer gave me a second of "Eternal Darkness remake hope" lol
FIRRRRRRE EMBLEM WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOO
ZA DLC instead of HG/SS BW3 BOOOOOO BOOOOOOOOO I say
Be great if they remade Eternal Darkness as a decent game that doesn't entirely rely on its insanity gimmick to be memorable.
2026 definitely the year of the switch 2 just you wait and see
€40 each for the Galaxy games (or €70 bundled) is cheeky as hell. They were €20 on Wii U if I recall correctly, and 3D All Stars was €50 for three games (one being Galaxy 1).
As much as I love Nintendo, their pricing strategies are often total nonsense. The trailer makes it look like two fairly bare bones remasters, so €40 quid for the pair of them would be a lot more reasonable.
Also feels like paid DLC for Bananza so soon after release is pretty cheeky considering how expensive new Switch 2 games are in the first place. Obviously unsure of the scale of this new stuff, but look at how Team Asobi added loads of free levels to Astro Bot after launch. Some free bonuses only increases goodwill!
Even though no one will really play them, I can see the Virtual Boy device selling out for people who just want it.
true, it would be more appealing if it was stand alone device that contained the complete VB collection.
The DK Bananza DLC is very bare bones, after 15 minutes you've seen everything on DK Island and then just the gem runs which are grindy and very repetative, DK Bananza is a great game but the DLC is really just an extra game mode plucked out of the original game and converted into DLC so they are still getting their 90 euros if you have the base game and the dlc which probably was originally intended to be the base game.

There is nothing drier than a 60 minute Sakurai presentation. I admire the guy's work, but a punchy 20 minute presentation would be preferable.
