Prima Facie sold out in about four minutes. I know it was the Gaiety but I was surprised with no queue or waiting room.
Dang it, we're getting White Reaper instead of Spite House.
Sure If you said the Deftones would sell out the 3Arena and that a big chunk of the crowd would be in their 20s, they'd have thrown the key away.
Wow
Berlin for me, sick of London and having to exchange money
That would be a great Marlay Park gig but guess a risk for MCD 😔
sure everything is contactless/pin now. How much do you need to exchange? Takes a minute in airport to exchange whatever float/emergency money you need
Just get Revolut.
Lodge a load of euros, change to GBP.
Whatever you don't use, convert back to Euro and into your bank account.
Well used to revolut £ to € etc
At least seeing something in Europe with the €, you don't have to worry about exchange rates etc
What's Berlin like for a concert ?
Berlin is great. Went to PJ there in 2018, right beside the stadium SOAD are in. Transport easy, well able to handle crowds and there's options for going places
Berlin is one of the best cities in the world.
Always scratch my head when I see people heading to the UK for gigs when the same band is playing Berlin or Barca or Rome or wherever.
a cheap flight to uk and combine it with premier league etc makes London/Manchester an easy option for some people
I always choose London as I can fly out of Knock and stay with my sister when I'm there - no brainer.
This. Always look for Berlin dates (or Munich / Hamburg) when a band I want to see announce European dates. Germany is excellent for costs, transport and quality of beer. I rarely set foot in the UK.
I didn't love Berlin, but a rake of 3 euro bitburgers and a 5am kebab after a show will always be a better option than the world's smelliest tube and paying 15 pounds into a nightclub charging 8 quid a pint.
I'm not a big enough to fan to travel, but I'd be all over Warsaw for SOAD. Cracking city and a Saturday night
I've travelled to the UK for a few shows but it's mostly for the convenience. The UK has lots of connectivity with Ireland. Usually stay in a Premier Inn in the UK. Nice rooms at affordable prices even when gigs are on. I made weekends out of trips to Newcastle, Leeds, Glasgow and Birmingham. I'm not opposed to travelling somewhere else in Europe for a show but it would generally have to be for somewhere I haven't been before.
White Reaper! EP 2018? 2019? Played to myself, @darzog and about 10 others in the woods, deadly stuff. They have some absolute American cheesball classics. Loved them.
any news on a second date for Ed Sheeran? gen sale sold out this morning
Its much easier to travel to Britain for gigs. you can get an overnight bus to London if you really want, cant do that with Berlin.
Ryanair fly to Berlin for about 120 quid return if you book far enough ahead. Its a 2 hour flight.
Same for Rome, Milan, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam….
Vs a 13 hour bus to London. And back again. So 26 hours on a bus.
there are dozens of flights from Dublin to London every day. For comparison, there are 4 to Berlin this Friday.
wrong thread
Wont be a second date, the show is just a teaser for a bigger tour next summer.
900 tickets they released for the general sale today, a waste of time.
Yes, but London is ****.
SSE Arena Belfast Thurs Feb 26th
3Arena Dublin Thurs Mar 19th
I work in Tourism and the busiest stratum of flight every day/month/year is either to the UK, Spain, USA
Simple answer is convenience and connectivity, all airports in Ireland service London and the rest of the UK, combine that with cheap airfare and the fact it's an English speaking country makes it a go to choice, in terms of music/concerts you're nailed on that every act will play there, and it's an hour flight, and you build familiarity I've pretty much exclusively gone to London for gigs these days.
I'm seeing Marilyn Manson there again in November flying out from Cork (ticket 70 euro, ryanair 60 euro return and a hostel for two nights 65 and trains to the airport I got for 19 euro)
Yeah sure I'd go to Berlin to see them over London but the fact is I'd have to travel up from Cork to Dublin to be able to go when I could just as easily go down to Cork airport and get an hour flight, not everyone going to these gigs is from Dublin and has instant access to the rest of europe
» "…  a hostel for two nights 65 …"
@Duffy98, would you mind sharing the name of the hostel you use. £65 for two nights in London looks pretty good. Thanks.
It's called the Zedwell Capsule Hotel Piccadilly Circus, be my first time in there now tbh with you but I suppose it'll be a similar setup to that Jacobs inn hostel by the bus station up in Dublin
It was 66 not 65 😅
Gorillaz gig (officially) confirmed for April 1st as expected. New song with Sparks just released.
That'll be class, they were brilliant last time they played here
And Belfast the night before
second night added
third is on hold to see how the second one sells
