Proving that he wasn't just in Boyzone to make up the numbers. Unfortunately that's how it seemed, but if you ever see the music video to Working My Back to You, it's him and Stephen on lead vocals, with Ronan (and the others) dancing away at the bottom of screen like occasion afterthoughts. That was before Love Me for a Reason, after which Ronan was promoted to lead vocalist. That Boyzone documentary is essential viewing.
WMWBTY was only released in Ireland. "LMFAR" was their debut single internationally.

While there are a lot of instantly recognisable songs that got lots of radio airplay back then, that are rarely heard now, I'm not sure some of the songs posted could be described as radio hits, some I've genuinely never heard before and I'd have listened to a lot of radio back in the 2000's, a lot seem to fall into the category of lesser known hits by artists that had more well known songs, but, not sure they got much airplay here.
That Shapeshifters song I shared got considerable play on SPIN in 2007.

I think Irreplaceable was her second single and went one place better than the Number 2 of the first one. Well, in the Irish charts anyway; I believe both bombed in the UK singles chart and she didn't last too long after that despite her Irish chart success.

I've really enjoyed going through this thread, either rediscovering songs I'd forgotten about or finding songs that had gone over my head at the time, like that Ida Maria one. And I think we can all agree that the nadir of 00s music was when the dregs of the nineties boyband sound were lingering into the new millennium for a few years too long. I think page 8 or 9 might have been sick with them.
Back in 2018 I was going through the 'hits' of 2003 with someone, trying to figure out what the hell could actually be played on stations that have to play increased >15 year old tracks (in the music statements in the licence agreements of some stations here and also in the UK), and would fall in from Jan 2019.
Oh it was dire. 1993 being lost off the top of that band and becoming "oldies" had vastly more good music, even though it was from when there were only a small number of #1s, and less total chart entries, in an entire year.
Boybands and early wave girlbands had burnt out, there was a huge change in which dance music made it to the charts, there was an upswing in R&B being popular but it was mostly really really bad R&B still (1993 had much better R&B tracks, lots of newer artists weren't established on pop charts yet) and rock was in the doldrums.
2000/2001/2002 were arguably still the 90s in music terms; and that's normal. If you ever try cut decades in the charts for stylistic terms, it probably makes more sense to go from the x2 year to the x1 year.

Manic Street Preachers - The Masses against the Classes
An extremely forgotten 00s song, or maybe not, because it probably wasn't remembered very much to begin with. Fresh from their triumphant Millennium Stadium gig on New Year's Eve, 1999, this got released and deleted on the same day, meaning the shelves wouldn't be restocked with it; once it was gone, it was gone. It didn't appear on any albums either. It entered the UK Singles Chart at Number 1, knocking Westlife off the top of the charts and becoming the first new Number One of the new millennium, and the second of the band's two Number Ones. Never got much airplay apart from chart shows. Reached Number 7 in Ireland.
Great song.
It held Donell Jones' "U Know What's Up" off the top spot which I think would otherwise have been a surefire number one.
Manic Street Preachers also had this song on the radio, it got played a lot, had forgotten when but apparently Spring 2007.
Modjo/Brandy & Monica mash-up that peaked at #10 in the UK mere months after "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)" was a UK hit. Nope, I don't remember it either!

Absolutely. And the following week, when the Manics were down at No 4, poor Donell was still at No 2, only this time Born to Make You Happy by Britney Spears was in at Number 1. A lot of songs peak at Number 2, but you're in exceptionally bad luck if your stuck at Number 2 behind two or more different Number 1s.
Donell Jones never had another Top 10 hit, I believe. That was it.
