Two bridge
NEW BRIDGE
At the risk of stating the bleed'n obvious, what are we going to call the town
(a) until then, and
(b) after its opened.
Answers ás Gaeilge for the extra 10%.
Think they just want to retire. Was very busy last night by all accounts. I'll try and get there for one last Cook's Special or Mexican Chips this weekend.
Cooks Cabin at the top of Highfield is closing forever on Sunday, after 39 years of business. It was announced fairly suddenly so I don't know what the story is. Maybe they didn't want a lingering farewell.
It will be missed…
(This wasn't my creation.) 🤫
Yeah, it's a revival of a similar magazine that was out in 1974 (I think).
i read the new "link" magazine at the weekend. A Newbridge based magazine which was given out by the schools last week but is for general sale in local shops i think also.
Congrats to everyone who put it together!! its a decent read.
Great to see ‘The Nook’ open again - hope it works out for whoever the proprietor/s is/are.
"Normal" are continuing their expansion and opening in Whitewater.
My guess is its the Euro Giant unit as it has identical user clause - but could be the Quiz unit as it would attract footfall to that part of the centre.
Huge company. Same owner as Vero Moda, Jack & Jones, Name it, Only (and others)
Opening end July/Early Aug
Hope nobody stuck for water

That's good to know.
I only visit the odd time if I'm visiting Kildare Village in the morning. Think Newbridge is dead handy. Go to the shopping center, Penneys, Dunnes and Homestore/Woodies.
Couldn't be bothered with Dublin.
As a guy I have little interest in Zara.
River Island still there, Next opening in May (former New Look store). Zara closed as they need a bigger space for their style of store now and a bigger unit was not available (it had NOTHING to do with rent or rates - SOLELY to do with the size of store they now want.) Normal are in negotiation for the Euro Giant store. Rituals now open too (Former Pavers store I think)
Only available units are the Zara unit - (this could be of interest to Boots) and the Quiz unit (poor location)
St Patrick's Day flags in the town:
When are we going to be mature enough to fly the British Union flag, whether or not we cover the pole with grease to stop pilfering or damage?
Why are the Pride flags removed? Keeping them fresh for June? Even the PBS, the town leaders in this regard, do not have it aloft currently.
I only visit Newbridge the odd time.
Have Berska, River Island, Zaraz, etc all pulled out of Whitewater?
You'd wonder what they replace them with.
It'd be great to magically have a Street View from that time. 😄
Almost all of the fields in that photo are covered in houses, except for the far side of the river and the triangular bit at the bottom.
Didn't know where else to post this up, but I thought posters would find this interesting.
It's an Aer Corps aerial photo of Newbridge dated 15th June 1973.
You can see the town beginning to grow rapidly as it starts to become a commuter town for Dublin, with Moorefield Park estate under construction near the centre of the image.
Credit where it’s due:
As everyone knows there’s been some terrible deluges in the past week. I drive up & down the R445 every day. There used to be terrible flooding on the dual carriageway between the LIDL & Toughers roundabouts but ( afaik ) there’s been no flooding on the road since the roadworks last year. Well done to those that did the repairs.
I was in it this morning & the choir were singing carols outside M & S, made the place feel good.
I'd say that will be welcome (not that I know much about Next). I was in the Whitewater last week for the first time in a while and noticed a few places shut down.
Next are opening in Whitewater in May 2026!
I cannot help You but give them a call: 431281
Hi, does anyone know if Mcloughlins oil sell 20 or 25 litre drums of heating oil? Thanks!
Jeepers @Damien360 , please take that rubbish down in the next 23 hours, before it's tattooed on you forever. We live in a small village.
Saw the video. Absolutely nothing will be done about it. And if the whitewater decides to ban them entry, they will get a free lawyer for discrimination. Didn't recognise any of them though. Head not square enough to be a Connors. Possibly O'Brien's (the Kerry blow ins) but not sure. Old enough to know better.
The wonderful "indigenous" ethnic community were bringing their personal matters to whitewater yesterday.
What a joy they are.
Obviously no roof work or tarmac laying on Sundays.
Anyone know what type of car went on fire today (Sat 23rd Aug) near Lidl ?
Went by the old chartbusters and noticed work going on. Anyone know whats going in there and into the old donalds shop as well
Nice mature estate. Not 100% sure about the land behind that as I think it's ear marked for housing eventually. Search the county council website for the newbridge town plan for more details. You won't be walking into town from there as the road is a country road. Some lovely walks by the old graveyard down to the river and also into old connell opposite that graveyard from there.
Hi All - we are looking at buying a house in Newbridge (Old Abbey Manor) and just checking if anyone might have feedback. We have a 3.5 Year old son and currently living in West Dublin. I see some other posts, but they are a bit old now. Thanks a million!
Did you object to any during planning permission stages?
150k to fund a study to prove a "business case".
I'll give you one free - I rarely go into Newbridge because of the appalling traffic at the current Liffey bridge.
Tailbacks in the morning, tailbacks when there's a funeral, tailbacks at lunchtime and continued to 2.30 due to primary school, tailbacks at 4pm and again from 5pm to 6pm.
It has got so bad that if I have to go in I'd travel to the Curragh junction and go in via the Curragh, green road, Curragh grange and the back way into the industrial estate and out via Newbridge silver - its actually quicker.
