Prima Facie sold out in about four minutes. I know it was the Gaiety but I was surprised with no queue or waiting room.
I know it's their job and it's one of if not the most lucrative tour, probably the era's tour would trump it, but surely they must be getting bored of doing the same show at this stage, same setlist, it's nearly like a script as you're saying with the audience interaction?
Saw them in Croker on the first night and it is class in person in fairness to them,
I'm always surprised how some bands/acts aren't driven insane by performing the exact same set/script night after night, with a discography as large as theirs,
Thing with Coldplay is that some of their best work is stuff that will never make it on the setlist and the B-sides, it must drive some of them insane I'd imagine or they just zone out 😂
Yeah would agree with this.
Saw them in 2017 in Croke Park and it was one of the best gigs I'd ever been to.
Last year it almost felt like the same tour from 2017 albeit with some newer, weaker songs replacing songs that were landing far better with a live crowd. It felt like 1 in every 3 songs was one off their newer albums and whilst I get that bands play new songs, it felt like overkill when the crowd just weren't connecting. I enjoyed it but it didn't feel new, fresh or exciting.
I'd say if you hadn't see them live, you'd probably have a blast but as a returning punter, it's certainly diminishing returns with them.
System of a Down rumoured to be playing Tottenhams stadium with QOTSA supporting. Guess next summer.
Marley Park written all over it.
It would be lovely but based on the prior gigs unlikely in my opinion. In North and South America they only played a select few huge stadium gigs. I'd imagine London is as close as they would venture to these shores. I'd love to be proven wrong though.
Yeah think they do very few shows, so can't see Ireland being included. QOTSA supporting SOAD will have me travelling though.
ozzfest 2002 was last show in ireland?
At the rate gigs are selling in Ireland SOADs booking agents would be mental not to consider here.
would they even do marlay park? There is a massive difference between a band like SOAD doing a handful of festival/ stadium shows in major cities like London, Berlin, Paris with download fest etc for a few million a night versus doing a malahide or marlay for a less than a million quid. these older acts prefer big pay days with least amount of effort.
And when a band hasn’t played Ireland in 20 plus years a promoter won’t risk such a big venue on them. If they don’t roughly know the audience here
I've no idea how many SOAD fans there are here tbh. Not sure they'd even know.
But yeah they're not doing Croker or anything.
RDS maybe?
Yeah dont think they've played since I started going to gigs.
Would love them to do here but they seem to be doing few shows and large stadiums. Berlin is known about (4th July i think it was), Sweden is being played due to Darons in-laws being Swedish. Could then hazard a guess at London, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan (maybe), Madrid (maybe), Warsaw.....hopefully proven wrong.
They wouldn't get out of bed for less than a million so..
honestly some of these older rockers wouldn’t. Do 2 shows a weekend for a month in Europe and spend rest of the time chilling with family in 5 star hotels.
rds still out of commission for 2026 shows.
Serj pretty much said as much in his book. Basically do one or two shows a year to top up the bank balance so he can work on his other projects. The rest of the band are mad for road though. I'd add Armenia to the list of possibilities too before Ireland
always the trade off. Same with new order and hooky. Hooky is mad for the road still.
Ooh System Of A Down would be tasty live
Before the G n R concert at Slane in 2017 (or was it Metallica in 2019?) the usual songs were being played over the PA. Nobody was paying too much attention but when Chop Suey came on the whole place sang along. It was surreal.
Not sure how that translates into ticket sales but if they were bothered to come here, especially with QOTSA in support, I'd say they'd do very well.
dEUS announcing something for Spring 2026 this week. Promo clip has Roses playing in the background so probably In a Bar... anniversary shows.
Some "sludge" metal
I would lose my mind if SOAD played. Be very tempted to go to London if not
Metallica!
I have a video of it - was amazing.
Jon Dolmayan has posted a fan petition for a Euro tour so maybe announcement time is closer than thought
I heard a few radio ads earlier for The Weeknd playing Croke Park next year - I wouldn't he be a big enough act to do a gig that size?
he sold out marlay park with no effort and his support act playboi carti worth a 3 arena as well.
He is enormously popular. Only Taylor Swift was more popular in 2024 on Spotify.
It will be ready for the horse show in early August so some late August shows are possible
promoters/agents won’t risk booking a venue that’s only going to ready very shortly before. the mess of co-op in Manchester won’t be repeated
Venue has to be done for the horse show so no fear of a coop situation as there problems lied in the air ducting above people, Rds is currently ahead of schedule and the August deadline is for full hand over with snags done so I would be surprised If mcd were not looking at it as a possible Venue
summer stadiums are booked 2 years to 18 months out, so a promoter wouldn’t be risking a august concert if contract handover was only august 2026 for horse show/rugby season. Delays are expected on major stadium works. I’m sure 2027 concerts are already planned/offers out. aiken have long term lease on rds for outdoor concerts.
Singular Artists pre-sale for Big Thief 29 April went smoothly for me just now, standing tickets obtained in 2 minutes, just under 60 quid each.
The horse show was on in the RDS last month I thought, how did they manage that ?
