have either of you received any communication from Hyundai or your dealer (recall or ‘Service Action’) prior to this happening? Hyundai has known about his ICCU issue since 2022 and it is still happening.

    Hyundai recall 50D162.jpg

I recently checked mine in the Hyundai recall search page and it popped up with a cryptic ‘Campaign Code 50D162’ with no explanation available.
And I’ve emailed my dealer asking what this means and what should I do with no response

Hyundai presents this as a minor ‘service action’ when it clearly isn’t. And, together with dealers, they are happily continuing to sell these cars and are deliberately keeping owners in the dark about potentially catastrophic defects

So thankfully one patch update and a loose cable adjustment later and I have the car back. Fingers crossed that is the end of it for now. On a side note, it resets your settings for max charge % when they apply it, so maybe adjust to what you had afterwards.

Yes… but that wasn’t straightforward either

They did not say, but I assumed it was to the 12v battery.

Got word that my Inster is at the dealer! Will probably be picking it up in the next day or two.

Our second one has also arrived today (we were told Nov first but then got a call that there was Khaki Elegance already on the boat arriving in a few days so we went for it).Hopefully we ll have it home tomorrow.

Are they still planning to bring out a 5 seat version?

We've a 2nd kiddo on the way and something like this would be ideal for the Mrs 14km round trip to town.

Having said that with 2 child seats in the back there's little hope of getting a 3rd person in there (in a 5 seat version).

With a lot of 5 seaters, having 2 kids in child seats leaves little to no room for a 3rd person either.

As far as I know they only brought out a 5 seater in countries that have grants for 5 seater EVs

My husband collected our 2nd Inster today. I checked the boot and only AC cable is included (this is Elegance model). Back in Feb with my Standard one I got two cables (AC and Granny one). Has something changed? Anyone who collected recently, did you get both cables? Thanks!

Correct. We still however have petrol Golf to teach kids to drive or when the snow falls for a week once a year, just in case))

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,025 ✭✭✭Exiled Rebel

Why don't you just teach them to drive in an inster? Is the golf a manual? That form of gearbox will be dead in 5 years (only 25% of new sales are manual), with the ICE not far behind it.

Why can't they just learn to drive in the insters? Auto and electric cars are the future anyway. How would the petrol Golf be any better than the insters in snow? Surely the Insters should be safe to drive in the light snow we get here.

Golf is manual of course. It is their own justified educated choice how to learn to drive.I won’t be arguing with a kid that doesn’t mind a challenge)))

Arguments like this don’t work with someone who says “what if I need to jump into your Golf but my license is automatic “…Let them suffer))

p.s - snow wasn’t light at all in the country earlier this year. Even Golf with all weather tyres wasn’t very comfortable to drive on the country roads when school were closed after Xmas.

    That could have changed.

Our dealer told us in January that it's great that we're getting a granny cable with the Inster as the new Ioniq 5s don't come with it. (we did get a granny cable with our MY23 Ioniq 5)

Importers figured out they could make a quick 300 beans from buyers by removing the free mobile charger option. If you're buying separately to the car purchase, opt for a 10m granny charger.

As far as I know the granny charger still comes with them, sister in law got one last month. Wasn't in the car when they picked up but dealer gave it to them when asked. May have been misplaced when PDIing the car but you'd wonder if someone was chancing their arm.

Not much need for a granny charger for most if you have a home charger installed. Even if you get the second I'd probably just sell it as surely one is enough to have as a spare around in the rare case you need it. I see little need for one myself with one EV in the house. May need one when we get a second EV, might need it the odd night to charge both cars but should be able to mange without. I only charge every 3 or 4 days as is averaging 60km a day.

I received all the accessories listed with the car last Feb, unless they've altered the list, then it's sales reps at the dealerships stealing from their customers.

I picked mine up yesterday, no granny cable. Dealer said they had stopped giving them but since I booked my car in March I'll be back to them about it. It wasn't the guy I made the deal with yesterday giving me the keys so hopefully they honour it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,892 ✭✭✭Bacchus

When we picked up ours in July and the granny cable was included, the dealer said to keep that handy as they were going to stop including them soon.

My mother didnt get a granny charger with her inster a few weeks ago. They have home charger and a kia granny charger anyway so I didnt bother asking about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 721 ✭✭✭glen123

My man popped into dealership this morning and they said granny charger was no longer included. It was the same guy that sold us our first Inster in Feb which came with both cables so I tend to believe him.

Inster boot - lower spec model

Facebook post yesterday asked why the ‘sliding seats’ version doesn’t have a boot cover that lifts with the hatch. Explained you can have sliding seats OR lifting boot cover but NOT BOTH. They posted a pic which prompted me to take a closer look because this is the first pic I’ve seen of the boot space in the lower spec model. As you can see:

    • the boot is much bigger because the rear seats are positioned further forward, and also because it is deeper as the ‘middle boot’ cover has been removed (you can replicate this in the ‘Elegance’/02 using the handy ‘hook’ provided 😊)
    • which means the boot cannot provide a flat floor, but there’s no longer any need for this since the car cannot convert into a ‘bed’ (because the front seats cannot be folded flat)

Finally collected my Inster after ordering a Khaki Green one back at the beginning of April. Very happy so far, love it. I have been playing around with the driving settings to try and get the best mode that suits my driving preferences, trying various regen settings to get the feel of each one, but i am wondering how this affects the brake lights when either coming up to a junction or moving in traffic. I check the web and it seems that at least a few years ago for Hyundai's that this was an serious issue, but apparently around 2023 the software logic was changed.

Does anybody know the latest situation of how the brake lights are triggered if using regen braking? Just want to avoid getting rear ended.

They do, it might be related to a certain level of deceleration, but they do come on. Even on my Kia EV6 we use 1 pedal/max regen all the time.

    It's a non issue.
