Looks to be okay now that we're on a new page.
Made a purchase on amazon uk there this week. It's en route but I see under ''My Orders'' that the items ''Cleared customs''.
Is there some trouble afoot here or is it just a random spot check perhaps?
All UK orders have to clear customs...
I'm well aware of that, lol.
This is the first time that this message has appeared under my account though. I thought that perhaps there might have been some recent movement/push from Amazon HQ to encourage us to migrate to AmazonIE and this message was their first salvo, so to speak. 😊
It always says under my orders .. cleared customs UK.... cleared customs I.E....looks like standard procedure...
Amazon items clearing customs is just a formality. They all get through because they deal with the VAT correctly.
Sniffer dog probably has a sniff at them occasionally just in case someone finds away of using Amazon packages to get drugs into the country.
I switched my prime to amazon.ie months ago
But i was delighted to be able to get 30day trial of prime on amazon.co.uk
If you did the same you should cancel the membership now or you will be charged for a full year of .co.uk prime in 3 days time
Do you mean 30 days time? If so, that's standard and made quire clear when signing up.
Its a warning for people who signed up for the prime trial on prime day, 27days ago
I don't understand how you could be charged for UK membership after the trial period on the Irish site.
I think they changed from Prime UK to Prime IE with the refund offer at the start of the IE launch and then signed up for a free Prime UK trial which is what I think they are saying to others to remember to cancel it before the 30 days are up if they did the same.
Purchased a 900g tin of food product. It arrived severely dented (~40% dent) in the parcel, no other product damaged. Clearly tin was dented before shipping, and I would not have picked off a shop shelf. The tin is not pierced nor the food exposed. Is it worth requesting a refund?
Of course you get a refund.
I wasnt sure where to post this but I'll start here.
A family member sent me an Amazon.ie digital gift card which states that it has to be claimed on the IE site. I was on to UK support to see if I could get it transferred there but no. The IE support then told me carry on with their site and I could change accounts back and forward as I pleased. Im mindful of previous posts about possibly loosing UK membership if signing up with the IE site so has anyone any suggestions or has anyone gone through anything similar in the past?
I've had .ie and uk gift cards that I used on the respective sites in ithe past few months with no issues
Your amazon account will get you into any country's site. You can only use the gift card for the site it's specific to.
But the issues people have been outlining are explicitly with Amazon prime membership. So if you have a prime membership on UK, you can still use the gift cards on .ie with no issues, just make sure you don't inadvertently sign up for prime while using them.
Open to correction but the issues arose when transferring prime from UK to Ireland. Having multiple prime subs shouldn't be a problem
Anyone else getting a can't deliver to this address on Amazon.co.uk (to Irish address) when they click Buy Now and then find you can buy it if you go through the checkout via your basket?
Happened to me on two of the last three items I've bought.
Yes, happening last couple of weeks with some records.
I'm expecting an order today and it stopped tracking yesterday afternoon.
Last update was
Completed customs clearance.CUSTOMS CLEARANCE SYSTEM, IE
Then nothing.
Anyone else experiencing delays?
That probably means its still in the UK. UK customs clearance is done before it travels to Ireland.
This was the tracking : Looks like the UK tside of things is completed?,
22 September12:36 pmCompleted customs clearance.CUSTOMS CLEARANCE SYSTEM, IE8:55 am
Completed customs clearance at country of origin.Trafford Park, GB
The package has to arrive in Dublin from GB... probably making it's way over at this moment.
Cheers thanks, tracking updated about half an hour ago, and got text to say it is arriving tomorrow 😊
For me Amazon Prime has gotten worse and worse when it comes to delivery over the past few weeks.
Most of the time things now have a 3-4 day delivery estimate and are delivered by their contract drivers which used to be great but now have become even worse than Fastway in my area. Several times the delivery date passed and late night it gave me "we are sorry for the delay -it's now estimated to be (3-5 days later)".
I have now resorted to put in a slightly different variant of my address which shifts the delivery from their own contract drivers to AnPost and while it usually takes a day longer for delivery, at least it comes on time and I don't need to deal with the cowboys.
Threads stuck so bump.

Still stuck
