Starting a thread for 2025 gigs as they'll likely start rolling in.
I'll arbitrarily throw in Rob Beckett playing the Olympia on the 26th September 2025 which went on sale today.
Thank f—k we don't have any need for a 5k indoor venue that could have been used instead. Curtained off cavernous arenas FWIW
MCD and Ticketmaster havent emailed existing ticket holders to inform them before putting the 3Arena on sale which is pretty amateurish.
Was one of the lucky people who got the national stadium tickets, was actually looking forward to seeing them in such a small space,
From what I can see via presales etc, it's going to be a standing only show.... It'll be odd full standing in a curtained off hall but sure look it
Apparently it’s a non seating show now as well
why do they need to inform ticket holders before putting the upgraded show on sale? That’s never how upgraded shows are announced. Upgrades are just announced publicly and then emails go out.
no one ever said there would be no use for a mid sized venue. whether such a venue would make financial or practical sense has always been the issue. If live nation or others saw it as practical option they would have built it. the rds is a suitable indoor space available for all to book and it gets little use.
Paid 49 euro for my standing in national stadium and I see it's 70 quidish with the fee's and even the parking for the place has gone from 16-22 Euro's does just being in the 3Arena actually add 20 quid to a ticket?
Ridiculous - moving to 3arena is to increase numbers who can attend and therefore increase their revenue - bumping up the cost is a p1sstake
Bit of a **** move as I can imagine it's going to be a fairly basic stage setup and if it's all standing the people in the disabled sections aren't gonna have the luxury of a screen to actually see what's going on,
The increasing the ticket price by nearly 20-30 quid is the biggest piss take alright, id have preferred the sweatbox myself 😂
yeah venue costs are a lot higher per person from a vicar/olympia/stadium when you add in reduced capacity in 3 arena for turnstile. It’s just a more expensive venue to put on a show. Production costs will increase as well. Screens need to be rented etc
arena shows cost a lot to run than a mid sized venue. Every element of the show costs more now per person hence price increase.
It was rescheduled as well, so they definitely should have
Don’t see the need to increase price either, their production can’t be increasing drastically and I’ve paid less for bands in 3 Arena before
Increasing the price is a **** move. Yeah costs may be higher in the new venue, but that should be factored into making the switch based on current ticket prices
Ah Fanirish excusing the ol dynamic adjustment no less.
He usually plays a couple of his Suede tracks, one from the Jessie Buckley collaboration, a couple from the McAlmont albums and 3/4 from his excellent debut. The debut album with McAlmont is in my all-time Top 20 - Yes, You Do and Although are glorious pop songs.
Every element costs more? Some sure, but every? There are no economies of scale?
the original purchasers aren’t being hit with an increase. Someone has to pay the cost difference for additional costs being incurred. If the band ate it all they would very likely lose money on the 3 arena show. Which is not a realistic situation. so either keep in stadium and disappoint thousands or move to 3 arena and new purchases are stung with price increase.
"Due to phenomenal demand we are going to charge you more."
Sounds fair to me. Supply and demand. It's like any commodity - if people will pay for it, then the seller will sell.
Prices of goods and services generally increase with demand. Same as is happening now.
Well thats 3 nights outa 4 travelling to Dublin that week for me. Better Lovers 29th Oct, Maruja 31st and now Turnstile 1st Nov. Im f...ing delighted with the change but a pain for anyone who'd plans
YYeah if people feel it's worth it then they'll pay it, that's fair enough. If the band were going to lose too much by doing the move at the same price, then don't do the move. There's far bigger acts who haven't upgraded venues leaving people disappointed, kinda how events work. Still doesn't mean it's not ****.
Come back again and do bigger venue and charge more if you want!
nothing good to do supply and demand. Uograding a mid sized venue show to a 1/3 capacity arena show come with tons of additional costs that need to be offset somehow, only way to do it is price increase if band wants to make any money on Dublin show. you can run a lean and mean operation with mid sized shows, once you jump up the costs explode.
Sounds like their promotor got it wrong choosing the venue. That's their problem
yeah. Venue rental costs will have increased beyond a pro rata headcount basis. extra security as bigger venue with more entrances/exits. extra bar staff as more bars spread out across the venue. extra lights/screens needed to be rented from local suppliers as bigger stage production. Local rigging and tear down crews need to be hired given additional lighting and screens used. the list goes on.
Ìt becomes a problem for what seems to be many fans who could not attend the National Stadium on account of limited capacity.
But now they will be able to attend, if they are willing to pay the higher admission prices.
You're a gas man with the wording of your posts Fan there'll be no renting the venue in this instance as the promoter is MCD.
The list certainly does go on when speculating for sport.
Yes but they will sell alot more tickets.
An extra 3500 at 65 euro per ticket, thats almost 200k.
The extra costs would be a fraction of that.
Its a cash grab pure and simple dont try to pretend otherwise.
The phenomenal demand captures that no real costs are incurred but jack up the prices for the profit.
No guarantee that screens will be up either.
nah they won’t be a fraction. Easily 100k in extra production costs . Venue rental fee will easily quadruple using 3 arena, same for security costs and then add in additional equipment rental and rigging. Band fee will increase on a pro rata as well.
mcd and live nation company who own the 3 arena arena are seperate legal companies. 3 arena operates as its own business and charges mcd doesn’t get the 3 arena for free. Has to operate on an arms length basis same as TM and mcd as part of getting merger done here.
