CBL housing ?

Hi everyone , need advice , we are on the CBL list this good few years (myself,husband and son ) , we are currently in receipt of hap and we update our means test yearly as we're supposed too and notify them of any change in the household(wages etc) ... we were looking into cbl and noticed that last year we are above the maximum limit to be housed in our county , as my husband got a new job .. I'm just wondering where do we stand now on the cbl because it's still giving us the option to bid on houses ? Is it a case your on the list already and automatically qualify? Or is it a case now where if we bid and say did get somewhere that they'd review us and through us off it ? It's so frustrating cause we don't qualify for affordable housing and no chance of us getting a mortgage we really don't know what to do ? I'm feeling that being honest is getting us nowhere .. many thanks

If you put in a bid now, and you are over the limit at the time of assessment, you will be disqualified.

Is it possible for one of you to drop back to part time hours, just enough to bring you under the limit, until you get offered a house? Eg I now work 4 days per week, for 80% of salary (for different reasons).

The Govement auto enroles everybody in a pension, that's not classed as income in some cases, can he increase his pension payments in line with guidelines. Would that lower his income?

I think this is what hes guna have to do … it’s just madness isn’t it ? … like if he went down to 4 days we’d be under the threshold and wouldn’t have to pay as much as we do for the hap also .. and we’d prob be entitled to working family payment aswell … it just doesn’t make sence

Just to say, I believe working family payment is counted as means, for social housing.

I read a case somewhere of someone who didn't apply for it, as it would have pushed them over the limit.

typical !! Thanks for that tho ! Appreciate it ….i had someone tell me that because I’m on hap and if I got a transfer to a council house that because it’s a transfer you will only be means tested on the amount of rent you will pay to the authority on your new house … that was from a county council worker .. but I’d like to see that in writing I’m finding it hard to believe … we checked there and tax and pension we are above it by only 600e … sickening ….

I was told by cbl if you decline an offer that you are put to bottom of list but everywhere I checked online say no that you are just banned for one year and your place remains the same on the list. Can anyone clarify this for me?

First time decline is position frozen and second is put to bottom of list I believe (if you have bidded on CBL). Offers offered by council are allowed to be turned down I believe, correct me if I'm wrong though!

Different rules in different counties. It's not possible for us to give you an answer for yours, 'cos we don't know your full circumstances.
