The Hyundai INSTER sub-compact EV with 355km range will be officially released later this month. It was teased today and based on the CASPER ICE model available in some markets. Thoughts?
Why do you need two tow bars?
Because there are two towing points to connect up to at back I think and not a central one.
They mean towing eyes that you screw in not a tow bar. They is a point on the front and back bumpers of nearly every car for them. Most cars only have one eye with the car though. Not too many situations where you'd need both at the same time. Unless your using it on track!
I did my first longer distance round trip up and down the M7 yesterday, over 320k. So I experimented on the long stretches with looking at the vehicle energy consumption screen at 100, 110 and 120 kph. In this not-very scientific measure it was pulling 10kw at 100kph, 14kw at 110kph and 20kw at 120kph. It was a surprise that those “small” speed increases made such a difference to the energy consumption. But I paid the price, because my speed meant I couldn’t make it all the way for 320k without stopping and charging for 10 minutes. I would have made it if I stuck to 100kph though. A useful lesson learnt by experience!

Minimal AC used on the trip, on a damp but warm day. I think the heat pump helps a lot to minimise its pull on the battery
In case anyone's interested: I own a high spec Ioniq 5 and I'm absolutely in love with the Inster Signature. A LOT of car for your money! Just get it..
I am testing drive one on Thursday morning, curious to see what its like. I really didnt like the Ioniq 6 but the INSTER is priced very nicely.
Inster Elegance here …. just a week and well pleased. I went for higher spec to get folding seats and larger battery… and cream interior, very elegant indeed.
What colour paint did you get cobham? Also do you have a home charger or are you just using the Granny cable to charge?
I had to go with Buttercream to get the cream interior, only option. I am getting used to the outside colour, described as 'yellow' on tax cert. It looks well parked against greenery of shrubs in front garden. We have solar so had planned to get home charger. A granny cable would probably 'do' for my meagre mileage at the moment but like to future proof house and have option of faster charge at home.

Had my 02 one month and a day, and still learning (I don’t drive a lot - probably a slow learner too!)
I think the 02 is similar to Ireland’s ‘Elegance’?
Anyway, I really like the car, though there’s a few quirks (‘features’?!) +things I’ve not got to grips with. But one I have sorted - the rear view mirror. When I test drove the car I was disappointed by the restricted forward visibility since there’s a lot of black-plastic-clad gubbins at the windscreen centre and then the mirror below, creating a very restricted (IMO) ‘letterbox’ view of the road ahead. HOWEVER I’ve learned that you can push (gently!) the mirror assembly upwards and then (gently!) tilt the mirror back down to restore the rear view. The result is an astonishing improvement in forward visibility, with the base of the mirror now level with the base of the ‘gubbins’. Frankly I’m puzzled Hyundai position the mirror at the very lowest setting to cause maximum restriction of forward view - but maybe Irish spec rear view mirrors are positioned differently?

I love the openess of the front windscreen. I trimmed back the car insurance and tax sticky to minimum and have taken out the rear headrests as would rarely have back seat passengers. They are in the boot if needed.
when parked, grasp the mirror unit firmly with both hands each side then gently push it upwards (it may be quite stiff, so don’t force it!) until the support bar at the back of the mirror is almost horizontal (you can see this if you lean forwards and look behind the mirror)
obviously you can’t now see through the rear window as the mirror is now pointing to the roof!
so, again grasp the mirror each side and adjust it downwards until you are happy with the rear view
Now look at the base of the mirror unit - it should be level with the base of the plastic unit attached to the windscreen. If not then repeat the process until you are happy

Great instructionda there. Does this effect the auto dimming of the mirror though?
no it shouldn’t, this is just changing the position of the mirror using the built-in adjustment feature
I’ve only driven the car for a short distance once at night (the projector LEDs were great!) so I couldn’t test the auto dimming function - I guess it ‘does what it says on the tin’?
I haven't noticed any restriction in the windscreen, maybe it's a my height? I have the seat fully up and to be honest I'd like maybe two more inches.
The only other minor quibble is the lack of a spare wheel, my last car had an emergency wheel, although now that I think of it, I never used it. Perhaps it's way down the list so

Inster sounds in(s)teresting, especially the 49 kWh battery version. Might have to check it out but I fear it might be too small for anyone over six feet tall.

I fit just fine at 6'4"
The main thing to be aware of is the b-pillar can block your view if you have the seat set far back. So much do that you have to look around it.
Definitely worth checking out, it's a great drive
You can also hold the lock and unlock buttons to close and open the front windows respectively.
Also, if you press lock and then immediately hold the "hold" button, it'll start the car up, with the a/c, radio etc. - then you've to unlock it again.
Are there many people who have ordered in the past month or two and have been told the car will be available in July? We ordered an Ivory Signature 42 kWh at the start of this month, have already been given a VIN and told that the car will be here at some point next month - the screenshot sent to us showing the VIN also notes a July delivery, so hopefully it isn't just the salesperson being as optimistic as possible!
It's a very good sign that you have a VIN. I'd say approx 2 months once they issue the VIN. Can be faster from your point of view as it could have been manufactured/VIN issued earlier than you ordered the car. (we got a Khaki Signature BTW)
Ordered in February and still no news on delivery.
