Still hard to believe bussing crew and putting them up in hotels is cheaper or more efficient than a crew base.
It isn't and they know it at this point.
I wonder what the Dublin Cabin Crew think of operating the Shannon flights.
Its a long day getting bussed to Shannon and then doing the 7 hour flight
Aer Lingus do not have high regard for Shannon.
do not expect this to change anytime soon.
Ah the poor craturs!!! A two and a half hour journey. How about all the people who have to take the bus from far distant parts of Ireland to avail of services in Dublin!!!
We were talking about Aer Lingus Cabin Crew. That was nothing to do with the conversation!!! FYI im reporting your post
Oh please don't!!! I would be like cabin crew travelling all the way from Dublin to Shannon. Distraught I tell you!!!
Pity people can’t freely express a opinion on these forums.!!!! The cheek that comes after it !!!!
Agree. For the most part Ryanair will make sure there isn't much for them in Shannon either.
Something going on today? I've heard what sounds like low flying small planes going over my house three times today.
Survey aircraft was flying low around Shannon all day, it's been here a while now.
There were flyers posted to homes a few months back saying that the survey aircraft would be flying around most of the summer..

Why are there such price anomalies between SNN and DUB for the exact same destination, dates and airline? My sister, husband and 2 kids were quoted €900 extra to fly from SNN to Palma than from DUB with Ryanair for same dates. It means they're trekking 2.5 hours to Dublin instead of half an hour to Shannon which they would've much rather used? Are airport charges that much higher in SNN or what is the logic for the ridiculously excessive surcharges?
I wish I had the answer. I did ask somewhere before and was told that because there is more flights to certain destinations from Dublin, they charge less.
Are airport charges that much higher in SNN
No
or what is the logic for the ridiculously excessive surcharges?
Captive market
there is more flights to certain destinations from Dublin, they charge less
Not true, RYANAIR and just about all other airlines will have on any particular flight a fixed number of each of the following.
Look at homestoreandmore's famous catchphrase, when they are gone (cheap flights) they are gone.
Because there is simply a greater number of flights from Dublin there can be more opportunity to avail of the first 2 options.
Also RYANAIR and other airlines will have an element of dynamic pricing linked to proximity to departure date and the number of seats left.
Looks like TUI is pulling out from ROI in 2026!
I flew through the airport yesterday morning and it took approx 20 minutes of queueing to have my boarding pass scanned at the security entrance!
I’ve noticed that it is taking me what feels like ages recently as well!
I notice that the last Aer Lingus flight from London seems to be at 18.05 for the winter season. Really makes same-day connections after meetings in (e.g.) Paris and other nearby European cities challenging. Could it not get pushed just a little later?!
Would that many business travellers really do 4 leg journeys (2 outbound and 2 inbound) in the same day?
It’s not really about same day - that’s pretty hard even with the summer timings; and even if you’re there the night before and had meetings only in the morning, with travel time to an airport and pre-boarding time, flight time and MCT timing at Heathrow it’s really unlikely you’ll make the 6pm departure home to SNN.
As it happens, I can just about make a SNN-CDG-LHR-SNN day trip work with meaningful meeting time on a Thursday in the summer, but not with the new winter timetable. Either hotels in Paris or flights from Dublin airport are going to be the winners here…
2x Weekly route to Frankfurt (FRA) announced by Discover Airlines, part of the Lufthansa group. Begins April 2026.
Great news, good to have a Germany link back, and a good route to a hub airport.

I'm not crazy about the days but this is a much needed route and adds a little bit of choice to longhaul fliers as well as reconnecting to a key market
Is that FRA service a schedules service or part of a Tour Operator operation???
I don't think Discover works with tour operators. It's basically just a re-badge of Eurowings.
Specifcally says can connect to Lufthansa network.
I notice FR24 coverage of ground movements at Shannon Airport is missing now for the past week or thereabouts.
Anyone know anything about the situation? Hopefully a temporary outage for whatever reason.
Update: Appears to be working again as of Saturday afternoon.
No more photo ops for Mary
There is a huge amount of transformation needed in Irish Rail over the next decade. I think this is an important role nationally. I would worry about what will fill the void in Shannon though.
