Agreed. Would be better to kill it off now rather than continue with Katie at the helm. As bad as Joe was at least there was plenty of (unintentional) comedy, Katie’s version of Liveline isn’t even a cure for insomnia with the screeching banshee-like voices we heard yesterday covering topics most people do not care about.

Yes, the salary is enormous, I understand that, but that doesn't affect my soul.

You can be sure the lack of Housing will be lucky to be touched apon. We will probably get another show of useless GAA Talk.

The government is laughable. They are making up housing rules on the fly, powered by leaks and press releases. Then seeing what is picked up as issues by the press.

Listening to KT on Liveline after listening to Cian on The News at One has sent me to sleep at my desk on occasion.

Cian must have the dullest voice possible.

The geniuses in charge of the country have come up with the following to tackle the housing crisis:

    Build sheds in your backyard

Force landlords out of the rental market and hope these houses will come up for sale

That's why they are on the big bucks I suppose

Agree its just turned into the Andrea Gilligan show on news talk

They don't even pretend that it's a caller driven show

Joe into his third week off after announcing his retirement and saying he's here till end of June is just a p#ss take

I reckon Kevin had a word about his time off and well everyone knows what joe thinks of criticism

You left out grant zero tax on rental income on investment properties to vulture funds and hope they build/buy entire developments to rent out…..

RTE after championing unlimited immigration for 5 years now realising there is a thing called a housing crisis that might be connected to our exploding population.

There's an Indian invasion at the minute. The competition for buying and renting is with India. It's the elephant in the room

I too am shocked the LiveLine is covering the housing crisis, but will it get as long a slot as the gaa?

Yes very little mention of it at all. The rebuild costs havn't jumped up to those levels either to explain it.

KT draining the last bit of positivity out of Eileen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,851 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Katie: "Would you(Eileen) consider moving far, far away?"

Has the price of a concrete block, a sheet of plywood, a steel beam, a copper pipe, a window, a door, a heating system increased in the last 5 years?

stop repeating how we are one of the richest countries in the world. that's bollocks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,875 ✭✭✭Dublin Calling

Sky rocketed, especially the the north west thanks to Government meddling in the market .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,513 ✭✭✭run_Forrest_run

in the lack of any Government members to talk, KT is doing a mighty fine job of defending them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,951 ✭✭✭✭BPKS

It will be like that film Nomadland soon. Elderly people driving around rural Ireland in campervans cos they don't have houses.

    Thanks Leo, Simon etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,513 ✭✭✭run_Forrest_run

when Leo said it my blood was boiling. We have children crippled with various issues and we can't even treat them on time…but Leo says we're one of the richest countries in the world. Just goes to show how he defines wealth.

Could we not have found out where in the country Eileen lived.

Put a shout out to any landlord who may have a property in that area that might have taken pity on her.

That was just totally pointless. Just the Liveline team ticking a box to say they discussed one of the main issues effecting Irish people - the housing market.

The crazy thing that isn’t being mentioned is that anyone currently in a tenancy will be getting an eviction notice soon so the landlord can move to the new 6 yearly increase and even at that 6 years is way too long for going without an increase.

If the government stopped rental top up payments like HAP rents might stabilise. They’re part of the problem they’re trying to solve.

14:12 and Fiona wants an Irish Passport.

KT, have you not realised the housing issue is caused by the country being full!
