He has been dealt with by the courts. It is not the GAAs job to administer justice.
He is a great athleate. Good role model for kids too, shows anybody can make a mistake and recover from it.
Good role model for kids? I don’t think so. I’d absolutely not send my kids to any event he’s involved in. Unfortunately the courts aren’t adequately dealing with him either as it’s obvious he’s getting special treatment there also because of his connections.

I'd say the likes of Pat Ryan and Davy Fitz with their antics on field do the game greater harm. It legitimizes mothers and fathers around the country abusing refs at kids games. Not a great influence. The respect rugby players have for the ref is by far a better influence.
Fair point but you have to start somewhere. If the organisation isn’t imposing any sanction on an ambassador of the game for their off pitch transgressions, Davy certainly won’t be worrying and it won’t even register with John or Mary abusing the ref at a local gave. An organisation needs to show that it won’t stand further certain things but I’m not sure what that is fir the GAA and I wouldn’t be losing sleep if I was abushvevat a local level at present.

Oh please. Hayes learnt nothing from his 'mistakes'. He attacked people. He drove at well over the speed limit putting others at risk. The courts don't have the courage to put him in prison instead he gets a slap on th wrist.
He's a sad excuse for a human. An appalling example to kids following gaa and an example that no matter what you so, if you can hurl you're safe from correction.
A fairly grim fcukin household if Kyle Hayes ends up a role model for kids.
Hayes ground game is strong anyway, he sees a head on the ground and he kicks it.
The idea of such people getting cheered on by the crowd is sickening.

I don't agree with what he did but it's nonsense to say he stayed out of jail because of " connections ". Take a look at the national papers and fellas with 60 /70 convictions getting suspended sentences. Nothing to do with him being a gaa player
Another poster who thinks if you're a gaa player it prevents you from going to jail. Read my previous post. Their is career criminals doing what they want. In and out of court and they get off.
Hayes was very lucky no question but when are people going to let this go? If he's allowed to work, socialise, go to the gym etc, why shouldn't he be allowed to play hurling?
I think people are concentrating on the actions of individuals, and ignoring the question.
If they go down this route, for clubs/counties with players up before the courts, I would add in clubs/counties with supporters who come on the field to assault referees and others. A five year disqualification should do the trick. It would certainly thin out the competitions, until the message gets through.
