Tesla must not be very confident in their robotaxi trial if they're trying to block information requests by journalists from the City of Austin.
they’re only looking to show people just how much he’s lying.
His tweet - “robotaxi announcement on 8/8” was in March or April 2024 (a rushed tweet because he canned the model 2 and the share price was tanking).
So we’re 15months into this one, and years more to go i would say
Should concentrate on the cars, which are great and forget all about this taxi rubbish. Concentrate on getting a small hatch, saloon and suv out there. The last 2 are already there.
If they want to be a genuine car company, separate the cars from this iron man stuff.
A golf sized Tesla hatch would do very well, certainly in Europe anyway.
Nobody has said “they” want to be a car Company, not least in Tesla who have and continue to promote themselves as a more diverse multi tech based conglomerate. So the answer to your question is “if they want ..they don’t !
Does a Model Y not sort of fill that gap already. It’s more spacious but it’s still a 5 seat hatch of sorts.
Space wise it does. But, for those that want something a little bit more dynamic to drive, the Y is not it. It handles grand, but it’s not on par with the model 3 handling so something low slung like a golf that would retain the sharp handling might suit a few people.
For example, I know loads of people that don’t want a saloon, done want the cross over so the ID3 fills that spot perfectly.
But, and here’s the kicker, the M3 is already ID3 priced so can Tesla make an ID3 sized car and sell it cheaper?
It's a fair bit bigger though. Over half a metre longer and 15cm taller and 20cm wider.
the M3 didn’t fulfill our need in 2020 for a replacement 5door hatchback, so we sold it within a year. A great car, and we escaped the price drop, so we got out of it easily and quickly - for 2 reasons, both family related:
1. not enough rear space - neither height for the older kids, nor space for bulky isofix seats for younger ones
2. An actual hatch boot, for the days i had seats down and bringing a mountain bike, or a dump run.
you could live with both issues, but we didn’t want the compromise the m3 was, just because it’s an EV, or (at the time), a Tesla.
So we went back to a 5-door hatchback, but are seriously looking at the id3 gtx next time around. Just saw one on the m1 a few mins ago, looks well on the road too.
Surely the Y was the answer to your conundrum?
It wasn't available in 2021
September 2022 first deliveries from memory. And at that, only the LR AWD at mid €60’s.
How much was the Model 3 when it was crazy money a few years ago???
deleted
When it first launched in 192, it was close to €50k from memory.
I thought maybe it was high 50s for a base model around 2021 or 22 but I could be very wrong!
This report from 2021 suggests €48,990 but is days that’s the headline price and not the OTR price that the Tesla website confuses people about.
June 2922 pricing after SEAI grant of €5k
Jeez that's not too bad for nearly 900 years away!!!😳
I think 73k and it came with nice wheels?
Same old Model 3 though.
Won't need a driver though???😁
Won't need a driver Real Soon Now™ 😆
we have such short memories - imagine paying €52k for an m3 RWD highland today?
Little wonder the second hand market is broken, there’s so many people postponing the inevitable by holding on to their cars far longer.
On a completely different note - I’ve just seen that BYD called their self driving software “Gods Eye”! wtaf
It’s like they want you to hate how tech companies think they control us
Thats what i paid for mine. It was the bubble pricing time after covid but Tesla ripped the arse out of existing owners shortly after with massive price drops. It's the reason I'm not in a Tesla anymore.
How do you think it is easier to sell second hand Tesla privately in current market? Should I advertise with lower price or higher price and be more flexible in negotiations?
Neither one or the other, price it realistically, perhaps a little higher than you expect to allow for wriggle room as a buyer wil expect to get a cut. Pricing high won't attract interest and you will end up reducing…save yourself time by pricing it to sell
Anyone get a price from Walker or the usual dealers for a Highland RWD M3 recently?
It is not that easy to find the market prices for Teslas, as others mentioned above market is strange. I think that is first time I look into selling EV privately. Anyway how much wriggle room would make usual buyer happy in your opinion?
wrong thread. Apologies.
