Toyota joining the game too late? I guess it’s hard to answer.
The BZ4X will turn some heads once it hits the road. I suspect it would be well in and above the RAV4 price range.
Could be the same AC failure my uncle had. It had to go back to Toyota for some small fix/update. His wouldn’t work on a OHME charger that had been grand for the previous 3 months.
Also, check to see which Tesla charger you used. Tesla give these chargers to hotels for free on the basis that at least half of them are reserved for Tesla use only. So there’s red signs that indicate Tesla only or white signs that mean any car can use.
Thanks for reply. Car is fine, used lots of chargers before and since without problem. Thinking that these particular ones are only for Teslas. In fairness, I only half expected them to work, would have been very handy if they did. As it turned out, rather than have dinner in the hotel, we used to go into Donegal town, plug in the car and had dinner wherever. Doing a lot of driving so worked out great. Its a few months ago and was cold, and we like the heat on in the car. I am more just curious about these Tesla ones. Particularly as no notice to say Teslas only. But I suppose the Tesla name on them should be enough.
Apologies, overlooked the red and white signs in your post. Can't remember seeing either, and of course have not picture.
Most of the Tesla destination chargers no longer work also. The destinations usually know diddly squat about them and Tesla don't give a fiddlers whether they work or not.
Thanks. Did some more more checking. Says on the Tesla website non-Tesla cars can use them but have to have the app, I didn't. Got the app just now, but those one don't show up, so my own question answered. Probably for Tesla owners only. And yes, hotel was really nice and very helpful, but basically knew nothing about them.
Another charging app on my phone, and I have not got a full collection yet! Getting there though. Not far off double digits!
That's usually for the superchargers. Destination chargers are plug and play. You don’t need the app.
You might be correct. Had a look at Plugshare. Photos show 2 with a red sign and another with a grey sign. Think I probably tried the 2 with the red sign, not knowing any better. Live and learn. Know more now thanks to this conversation, thanks to you all.
They were defo wrong what they said about the app. But maybe the chargers were restricted to Teslas only when they were installed.
They shouldn’t be. The whole program is centered around 50% of them being restricted to Tesla. Hence the OP confirming he seen Hyundai charging on them previously.
this is how they are signed…
Red is Tesla only
White is any EV
Looks like new bz4x is going to be like a Lexus- cabin quiet, no tyre noise
So they’ve caught up with the rest 👍
It's quieter than my old MIC M3 to be fair.
Yeah I’d say so. I’m just winding up Mr. Sato there 😂
I had to look up Mr Sato 🤣
Agh come on man, you’re an owner too 😂😂
review of facelifted BZ4X:
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2025-toyota-bz4x-driven-first-taste-overhauled-model-y-fighter
13k km review.
Averaging 14.3 kwh/100km
And things have escalated 😆
Pulled her 220 km ish and averaged 24 kwh/100km. Arrived home with 3%, used 90%.
I'm considering buying a 2024 BZ4X but test drove a demo 2025 one and was surprised at the level of road noise for such an expensive car. I already have a Niro and the noise levels were pretty similiar. Would current owners recommend the BZ4X???
I found the Toyota I better than the Tesla, Kia or BMW EV I was in in close timeline to each other so the wind noise is something you’ll have to get use to. It’s a knock on effect of having no engine noise too. All other noises get amplified.
Efficiency taking a hammering with the towing, average at 16kwh per 100km now at 18,000 km.
Still respectable. You could be running an E-Tron at 25kwh/100kms pootling around the neighbourhood.
Sure is, it's actually a very efficient car.
42.5k for the new sport model. 51k for the premier. Seems a very steep cost to get a few extras, JBL stereo, panoramic roof, 20 inch wheels.
Doesn’t look like there's any option for the AWD version which is personally very disappointing. I wanted to go AWD for the boat, higher towing capacity with the AWD.
That’s your average since new?
So the towing is actually a lot more?
Ya, was averaging 14.8 before the boat. Roughly 25-28kwh when towing.
Still within the norms in fairness I’d say. I don’t do any towing but I believe MPG with be cut in half when towing too?
Absolutely would.
