Even though we share the same database for WHS my gut feeling is that it won't work. Probably best to just put in a physical card. Take a photo and send to the handicap committee when round is over. Hand in the card whenever you're back at the home course.
Been around for years, golf has always been highly aligned with tennis, in recent years footgolf and even on our very own island with ski slopes, what's the harm
FootGolf is great craic. I seriously doubt it is stealing or diverting any players away from golf!!
You can do it in the GI App, you can select the country when searching for the player (only works for UK & Ireland) then if you search their member number it will pull their name.
Oh how nice it is to get out for a few holes on your own late on a fine summer evening. Course is quiet, wind has dropped. Stroll around at your own pace, retake a bad shot, practice a few chips and putts on a some holes. A big part of club membership for me is being able to do this regularly.
Outside of Mount Juliet can anyone recommend a decent course say within 35-40 mins of Kilkenny? Looking at Castlecomer, Kilkenny GC or Gowran but having never played them would appreciate any input.
Castlecomer and Gowran are both cracking courses, really hidden gems.
You could very forgiven with being underwhelmed through the first couple of holes in Gowran, but as soon as you turn out of the track and into the trees it's a beaut
Haven't actually played Kilkenny GC but have heard great things about it. Would second spacecoyote's view on Gowran
Carlow is a really top notch course.
the Boards society played kilkenny a few years back and I thought it was a really nice track
no I’m not so sure this is correct, at least it wasn’t a couple of months ago.
As far as I am aware, the database is only for the courses, and doesn’t share the members. So if you are in the England, you can indeed register a round on the app, but only a GI member can sign off on it. If you are playing with a England golfer, you won’t be able to look them up and they cannot sign your round.
Would assume same goes for them playing a course here.
It's fully integrated with all of the GB unions now. I didn't believe until I saw the post here and then checked the GI app guide.
Pg 36 of https://static.clubhouse.golfireland.ie/clubs/1000/uploads/files/play_golf/golf%20ireland%20app%20faqs%20120623.pdf
You can submit scores from any affiliated course in the 4 unions and any member from the 4 unions can attest.

It would great if they put in a help section in the app menu that displays all of the guides. This would help many users of the app and reduce queries to handicap committees and GI.
yes it worked fine for me, was able to find my Scottish mates name by searching his member number and he could attest, worked perfectly.
Played Walton Heath last year and my Golf England playing partner was able to verify my score fine.
Played KK GC last week, greens are in great condition, lovely course. Castlecomer well worth playing aswell, some big hills though which can be tough on the calves so recommend a buggy!
Rathdowney GC about 35-40 mins from Kilkenny aswell and also a lovely parkland course in great condition for small green fee
Gavin Tiernan (County Louth GC) is 2 up after 13 holes in the semi-final of the Amateur Championship. There is live coverage on the R&A YouTube page and Sky Sports Mix. The commentators have pointed out that the last Irish winner of this was James Sugrue in 2019. A few weeks later we had an Irish winner of The Open in Portrush.
If he wins this match he will play Ethan Fang (USA). Fang is 7th in world amateur rankings.
Tiernan wins 4&3.
36 hole final tomorrow
this latest update they’ve made to the BRS app is bollocks, it’s so buggy now.
It's had a couple of glitchy updates on the last year or so. Seems slower and clunkier to me at least.
it’s an absolute ball of shite, basically looks like the web version now
The old web version was the best
I only use the website, never bother with the app
Getting a new bag. I have a Ping Pioneer today and like it but it tends to twist on my Golf Glider Microlite trolley. Any particular makes of bag that fit better on the Microlite? Thanks.
I played off 8 or 9 for a long time. Was never too consistent, but could go low occasionally. Gave up for 7 or 8 years. Now playing off 13, and on the way up. I feel I'm not that different slill-wise, but find myself not trying very hard. I generally start with a no score, and by about 4 or 5 holes I cant really be arsed. Anyone else have issues motivating themselves? It occurs to me that golf is hard, and its easy to play shite when not trying your hardest. I think thats what's happening. Often accuracy off the tee is the issue, and I feel I'm just it determined enough to commit to a swing that'll get me in the fairway.
yep I know exactly how you feel
have had a few bags now on my microlight
None of them were ever a good fit and they all twist a bit at least, some lots
I sometimes use a bungy cord at the bottom and it helps keep it in position but it’s not perfect
bushnell phantom v2. Anyone own ones? They have dropped in price
Any recommendations for courses in the Wicklow / South Dublin area that will take green fees on a Saturday? Like reasonably priced.
Looking for August 23rd, already checked Powerscourt and they don't have any times available.
Whats reasonably priced? No idea of availability but give the pro shops a quick ring ring
Wicklow: Tulfarris, Rathsallagh
Close to South Dublin: Lisheen Springs, Castlewarden, Craddockstown, Palmerstown House (can be pricey)
Heading towards mid 50s. Had serious issue all my life with driver as I play cack handed.
Went to a fitter and after 2 swings he told me my driver was an awful fit for my swing. Sold me new QI35 Max driver and handicap gone from 9.3 to 5.5 in 2 months since I have had it.
First time ever going to fitter.
Macreddin, Arklow?
