First impressions are very good. The Switch itself feels nice and premium, the joy cons are still too thin for my liking but it's going to be docked 99% of the time so no big deal. I did the system transfer since there were no warnings about resetting the original Switch and it worked flawlessly, took about 10 minutes. Thanks @Mimikyu for that heads up.
Things I love so far, the home screen finally looks lovely (assume it's 4k) and oh my, how fast is the e-shop! It's actually enjoyable to use now. π They've moved your wish list to the main menu which is a nice touch.
Star of the show for me though is the Pro Controller 2 - it feels amazing. Those thumbsticks are so smooth, feels far better than the original pro controller which is saying something. They might have finally topped the original GC controller for comfort. π³
Picking mine up this evening after work. Just in terms of the system transfer, do you need to transfer all games across or can you pick and choose? My Switch with SD would have more than the onboard Switch 2 memory and I'm holding off getting the SD Express card for the moment.

Yeah exactly as far as I can see you can use this feature on all platforms so I'll def check that out later and let ye know

Walked into a mostly empty Smyths around midday. Scanned my barcode at the click and collect kiosk and my name was called less than a minute later. After being told peeling the screen would void the warranty, I was out the door with a Switch 2 under my arm ready to fight anyone who tried to take it.

Looking forward to the kids coming home from school so we can get stuck into Mario Kart properly it's nice to have them at an age where we can enjoy gaming together

I'm in roughly the same timeframe. If you have an account set up on Parcel Wizard you might actually be able to see where the driver is on a map. I've got that map tracking for mine anyway

Picked it up first thing this morning and doing setup while I work. Lovely piece of kit. Coming from the Switch Lite, the screen is incredible.
Ironically I finally got the dispatch notification for the OLED screen for my Switch Lite. Not sure what to do with that now but might give some life to the old Lite
Looking now online for my local and was 15+ this morning. Now 12. So still plenty left here anyway. I do see the majority of other Smyths sold out. Wonder how Currys are. Loos like Amazon and Harvey Norman have stock as well.
Any scalping yet? I noticed for something else they would say it was rare and sold out even while still available to try and scare potential victims.

There were plenty of them about for pickup across the various Smyths locations earlier this morning, but they have started drying up the last couple hours. Was down picking up another one in Clondalkin a little earlier and there were two left on the shelf for sale (non-Mario). No takers in the smallish queue at the time as they were all collecting.
Got mine in Smyths tallaght this morning. Was around 10 people queuing by 9. In and out in less than 10 minutes with my spoils. Happy gaming!

Collected the pre-order at Smyths Navan last night. There were over 100 people there and a nice buzz. They divided the line into 2 - one for pre-orders and another for those hoping to get one on the night. They then handed out numbers so that those first in line without a pre-order could be guaranteed a console. Unfortunately there were quite a few on the end of the line who didn't get a number.
When we finally got into the store (we were first in the pre-order line and they let in four at a time) it took about 15 minutes for them to process the order as the system had decided to slow to a crawl, obviously due to the surge in usage across their stores. Hopefully it sped up, otherwise there was a long night in for staff and customers!
It took about 20 minutes to transfer data from the Switch 1, then another 40 to download the Mario Kart World game (it's not a physical copy). We also got Split Fiction in Smyths, but didn't realise it was a download code inside the box! So no gaming was had until this morning.
First impressions: console looks and feels great, very smooth and fast visuals on all games, much improved store interface. TOTK S2 edition looks absolutely amazing in 4k HDR. I'm in work now, might have to take a half dayβ¦
