Green Peter - Permanent
Man Vs ManUre until 9/05/23
I was talking to someone involved with the Neale on Sunday.
basing that on what?
Tommy could/should be back on the bench for donegal game …..
Good venue for us.
A lot depends on which Mayo shows up the next day though, can we replicate the energy we had the last day esp against a team who has had the same rest as us? I'm fairly doubtful about it tbh, I think Donegal will have too much for us
ideal !!!!!
ha! Im not saying their feckin luxury, still fairly basic, but they are actual toilets in a concrete building! 😂
Confirmed for Hyde Park Sunday at 4
Sunday 15 June All-Ireland SFC Round 3
Tyrone v Cavan, Brewster Park, 4pm
Donegal v Mayo, Dr Hyde Park, 4pm - RTE
Monaghan v Down, BOX-It Athletic Grounds, 2pm - RTE
Louth v Clare, Laois Hire O’Moore Park, 2pm
The Hyde is an ideal - Donegal crowd in the N61, Mayo crowd in the N60 and I will sneak in the N63 relatively painlessly from my exile in Galway
I hope you are right snowgal - they were grim at the Roscommon and Dublin games last June
Hyde Park on Sunday at 4pm
there were proper toilets there and open on saturday gone! but literally basic snack choice in case anyone cares… bars and drinks
There is no proper toilets. It was port a loos all around last time I was there.
Not ideal on a warm summers day.
Hyde Park is the best ground in Connacht these days, if only Mayo had such foresight when they were redeveloping the MacHale Park.
What we need vs what will probably happen are 2 different things.
Similar to our need to work a few 2pointers next day out
we were at hyde park on Saturday for Meath game and it was grand tbh. No major facilities but the pitch and terraces were spot on.saw a few Roscommon folk coming in with beers, maybe a clubhouse was open?!
I'd say no chance of the Saturday evening whatever about the rest. RTÉ get first choice on the two games for the Sunday. With Mayo Donegal currently looking the choice of all the games given the all-or-nothingness of it.
stay humble, roads here in Mayo aren't in great knick either
I really hope it's The Hyde. Great place for matches. The stand and Terraces are really close to the pitch and creates a great atmosphere. Mayo had a couple of matches there last year, and they were really good occasions. Although that last minute against Dublin last year will forever be in my nightmares.
We'd be blessed to get the Hyde.Off the top of my head we have a better record there than any team in Ireland, its a lucky ground for us.
Open to correction here but we haven't lost a championship game there since 2001/2.
In that time I don't remember losing a league game there either.
Clones and Breffni are both a horrible drive on sh1te roads.
it’s not the same without the cooling tower behind it anyway
The pub is long closed as well so no pre match pints.
Lads it's Carrick, not Corrick.
Hoping for the Hyde, it's a good ground and one we're well used to, and actually tend to play better there than in MacHale Park.
Hyde Park on a Saturday evening packed to the rafters is exactly what we need.
Not sure about Corrick though, to be fair the wind turbines would play **** with any shots
They could do with a stand or steeper terrace that end to mask the graveyard. But the rest of the ground has improved.
Ok - good to know.
Maybe the TV camera angle doesn't do it justice so....and the graveyard end definitely isn't enticing 💀 😉
The Hyde is (as much as it pains me to say it) is a really good ground now They did a super job on refurbishing it at a cost of about 1.5m.
A good few counties could learn from that.
Looks like Hyde Park so..…based in Limerick so it's ~2 hrs each way for me 🙁
The last time I was there, the legendary Jimmy Browne scored a scruffy last minute goal to win the game (I think)
Edit: it was 1989
Breffni has an issue with staff/volunteers given the Cavan v Tyrone game would be throwing in at the same time in a different venue. A very viable option for other games, but not for ours. Enniskillen has a Tailteann home QF on that weekend. Doesn't completely rule it out, but I'd be surprised if they'd have one venue going both Saturday and Sunday rather than mixing it around a bit more. Hyde, Clones & Corrick (slight capacity concerns) the most likely options imho. Hard to look past the Hyde & Corrick getting a game each given the recent work done to both (and more cynically the reps they have on the CCCC) & Clones you'd imagine might be used for Dublin/Derry. If Armagh/Galway was a battle for 1st I'd have assumed it'd be Corrick for us, but with our game a full-blooded do or die while Armagh are already safe in 1st I'd expect they'd see ours as the bigger draw - so Hyde for us and Corrick (again) for Armagh/Galway would be my guess.
The Hyde is much improved, it’s a really good venue for a match now. Pitch was in excellent condition last year for the matches.
Breffni could be an option (2h 10 vs 1h 40) or Enniskillen (2h vs 1h). The Hyde is 1h 15 vs 1h 55
Any of those three are probably reasonable options from a travel point of view. Would Breffni have the biggest capacity?
