Original joy cons can be used, but they can't connect physically to the new console, so only by bluetooth. As well as that, the switch 1 pro controller is also compatible (Which is one of the nicest things Nintendo has done in years).
I've got my smyths email and they've taken the money out of my account. I've also ordered a few accessories so how do they usually sort that? Will that be a separate delivery on the same day?

Trying to get the delivery addressed changed on my dpd order. Just a nightmare. I think I just have to wait until I get the DPS email to change it.

As an option, if signed up on the Parcel Wizard and the order shows on it, you should already have the opportunity to switch to a pickup point.

Not in anybody's hand yet, but the SteamDeck and Ally Killswitches are fantastic products. Not on the cheap side, but they are a level above the usual efforts. Detachable joy-cons are accomodated, dock adapter etc
Sounds like them alright. Sure, assuming you get a text/email from them, it'd probably have a manage delivery link on it allowing the same functionality.
So I got the DPD email at midnight last night saying my Smyths Toys order was dispatched on 01/06/2025, then a few minutes ago the usual text from them also. Wondering is that the Switch 2 itself or the Pro Controller that they've not mentioned anything about or both hopefully. No way they dispatched the console already?

It's just marked as dispatched, but depends when DPD collect them that determines delivery. Might not be until the Weds they actually collect, if its sooner than that, then maybe. Has happened before, but generally not with major console launches - usually with games.
FWIW, they've only charged for the console in my case, not an additional item releasing at the same time, so they are probably just ramping through the consoles themselves, then will just ship accessories as normal. Have always received Smyths pre-orders as separate boxes/tracking numbers , so it'll probably be another email.
Aye, I'll not shill for them as their marketing is a bit annoying, plus I think the whole skin thing is a pain in the arse and I don't bother. But the cases are nice, as they should be for the price, but at least they're recently IOSS registered, so its upfront about the final cost.
Once had a SteamDeck Killswitch go missing in the post from them and they had another shipped out the next day after reporting it to them. Naturally of course, two of them showed up and they weren't fussed.
Yeah you're correct - just had a look at the tracking details and it says order received yesterday afternoon - but they've not collected the parcel yet.
In the US, Walmart's own label ONN branded SDXC Express 512GB cards are selling at $US65 (approx €57).
Typically in the past these reports have suggested that these were rebranded PNY cards, but reports are that these newer microSD Express cards actually SanDisk cards rebranded for Walmart. If this is true, then thats a savage price.
Doesn't even seem to be a 512gb card available over here. Only one I've even seen listed is over €100 and not out for a couple of months
I got my dispatched email and text too. But it's not in their system yet. So I'm assuming with the bank holiday they will only collect it tomorrow, then over night it to the local sorting centre. So it will prob be a Thursday delivery.
I'm not back home until Friday so not worried, just would like someone to be at home so it's not dumped in the rain. DPD just drop and walk away, even when I'm in the house.
I switched to a collection point. It said it was going to be delivered to my neighbour before that. No way would I let that happen, he hates me!! He'd probably damage the box or open it. Going off topic- but what are you all doing with your current Switches? I have an OLED and CEX only offer €118 cash for it. I think I'd rather keep it than sell it for such a low amount.
I sold my OLED model recently for €200 with a 256gb card not great but better than the CEX price
Think I'll just keep it for my kids. They've not shown much interest in it yet but you never know.
I have an original switch and definitely not worth trading it into the likes of CEX for what you'd get for it.

I have the OG Switch, will hold onto it for the time being. Actually just logged into it for the first time in ages, tons of games needed updates and signed back up to the online service. 😁
Keeping my OLED Switch as it's still probably the better way to play original Switch games for now.
I've my OG Switch, my son's old Switch Lite and he now as the OLED model.
I'm not intending to sell any of them, just adding them to the collection.
I might retire my Switch and use the Lite along with the Switch 2.
Can't wait though, heading for Smyth's in Swords at 11:00 and can't wait to play Mario Kart World.
I see that Cyberpunk is a tenner cheaper on the Japanese EShop, and it's got an English language option. I just have to be sure the console will let me have access to it!
my DPD tracker has updated to say order received at head office. It will probably update again tomorrow. The only thing I haven't ordered which I want is a Switch 2 Pro controller however they seem unavailable currently at Smyths so the joycons will have to do me for the first week or just use my Switch 1 pro controller without the gamechat functionality.
I wouldn't expect tracking to update until Wednesday, DPD tend to be overnight so I doubt Smyths would hand over the packages before Wednesday
They charge your card the day before, if I remember correctly.
sold mine for 200 with a 256Gb card and case and that’s a OLED model, shocked I even got that much for it being honest as it has had I think a good bit of use of the past 4 or so years
