Yes that’s only for the AWD trim.
Ah that's disappointing. It gives it more of a luxury feel. What replaces the Alcantara in the RWD? Why is there no info on this? Not that I can find anyway.
The standard wood or composite inlay presumably?
The interiors are the same for both …the main difference inside is the sound system. RWD has 9 speakers and AWD has 15 speakers and a sub woofer . The wood trim is gone on the Juniper new Model Y
saw my first juniper this evening, I must say my impression of the new design from the online reviews was pretty much the same in real life. The old design was unique to Tesla, but this isn’t - still nice though.
I’m nearly sure the AWD only had the alcantara or something similar to it, the RWD was the same as the Highland fabric interior. I’ll try and find review of it.
You can buy the Alcantara in the tesla shop if you really want it
But it's everywhere. Doors, dash, mobile wireless charger. It is what it is, but now I'm curious about what comes instead of alcantara.
I'm not sure actually, the fact this info is nowhere to be found would suggest there isn't actually any difference between the models.
There wasn't on the pre-facelift model.
I thought it was a difference between the launch model and the rest rather than the awd (all launches in Ireland were awd tho)
I think there is Alcantara on them all but the launch has it on the dash as well and that's what you can buy in the store.
Wireless chargers have been soft alcantara on all versions of the previous model. No reason why it’s not the same now. Where are you seeing that there’s different finishes between the model?
This video goes through the differences between the models. At 8.34 he mentions AWD gets chrome trim and alcantara in the doors. He also mentions you can add it as an option on the RWD. I don't see that option in Ireland.

I think they are all the same in Ireland.
Completely agree had a good look at one parked in work today. Gives me no desire to upgrade to new model. Good news really :)
Is there any expected date for a 7 seater option ?
Also wondering. It's a deciding factor for me
Yeah I think I'll get a model Y, but if that was on the horizon, and available in the cheaper models, I'd hold on for it.
The missus is thinking of changing her car in the next 12 months. It's an old 2015 Qashqai, I've an 232 MG ZS so there is no point trying to trade the MG in with Tesla as I'd lose too much, but they might give us closer to the 4-5k for the Nissan. Or at least not lose so much (I've zero interest in selling privately ever again).
So id have to swap with herself first, then trade the Nissan in against the model Y. If she goes ahead and trades it herself the window to get a Tesla is gone and I'll have to bump the ZS to the MG S5.
Ive been watching loads of videos on the new Y, especially interested in turning it into a mini camper van. You can get this class system for the boot with drawers and you can even get a tent that lets you park the back inside the tent to use camp mode.
I'd suggest selling the Nissan to another dealer, Tesla won't give you anything close to 4k for it.
I've found that the dealers have little interest in taking any car if you are not buying a replacement one from them.
My thinking is I'd rather take a €2k hit on the Nissan trade-in with Tesla than the €25k hit on the MG. 😂.
If the missus does upgrade her car, then we have no realistic trade-in options with Tesla, and my dream dies.
I’d definitely go with a private sale. Tesla gives ridiculously low trade in values.
surely a 10 year old €4-5k Qashqai is about the easiest car imaginable to sell privately?
I suppose one good thing about hearing the Tesla trade-in values is that they tell you where the market floor is
There was a company renting Model Ys with this drawer system last summer. Looked pretty cool. Not sure if they're still doing it.

It was a video on one of their cars that sent me down the camping in a Tesla rabbit hole 🤣.
Saw these tents that fit into the boot when open so you can increase the space and still use the camping mode to keep it warm. https://tentsla.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoopOkRegV8FaENmHJxQjDUMk5MbUuUUdYt2FkXF8gcMcaScG5Yw
I'd been toying with the idea of getting a camper van but something like that tent would be much more useful as that car is a car for the 50 weeks I'm not on holidays!!.
Can you detach the car from the tent so that you can still drive around during the day while you are on holiday?
Yeah, I saw one reviewer do that. They mentioned how it was way better to have the nippy car up a mountain than a big camper. Not 100% sure how it is physically connected to the car. Velcro perhaps? Or maybe it just gets the roof tied down by the strings outside and the boot part gets tucked under the mattress.
Is everyone's general preference out of the 3 options the long range model in the middle? Or the standard range ?
I don't see a need for the AWD in Ireland with no snow or wet/hilly areas around me, but maybe i'm missing something?
The extra range of the LR version is nice to have, I only do long trips 2-3 times a year so while "nice to have", for 99% of the time I'm dropping kids to school or driving to work so under 80km max.
I will be adding the tow bar so just need to see if I'd regret not taking the extra range while I'm at it.
Performance or AWD LR is all is generally buy. But that’s me. I like the performance of them.
AWD LR is a much better car than the RWD in my opinion
I picked up an LR a few weeks ago, and the power in it is crazy, the stereo is much better than my RWD M3.
But the same as the stereo in the rwd, and LR rwd MY.
