Footage too graphic to post. Must be dozens of people ran over by a car in a packed street.
Jesus, the media can't win. If they hadn't mentioned his race people would be accusing them of all sorts of cover ups to "protect" certain minority groups.
Yeah but they're not giving the usual suspects the chance to whip themselves up into a frenzy of muslamic ray-guns online.
There's people that will be genuinely gutted that it's a white man behind that wheel.
I saw that too. The road was closed to traffic I think so wondering how the car got there
the injured after the incident needed medical assistance, not protecting. You’re making no sense at all with this having a go at police. You’d rather what? The cops catch the guy and turn him over to the crowd? Yes, I can see why some might want that, but that’s not how a civilised society operates.
I don't think so, having seen a video where his car door is opened by a pedestrian, he closes it and carries on.
I suppose the police are trying to prevent further injury and potential crime. The people on the ground need medical assistance, not guarding.
The driver would have been torn apart if not taken into custody.
I can understand why they'd be quick to point this out. The readiness of political agitators to seize upon senseless attacks like these as a consequence of unfettered immigration is pretty staggering, so it's important to nip that in the bud in cases where the attacks have absolutely nothing to do with it, such as this instance, lest there is even more violence.
ok.. wtf is wrong with humanity..
I'd rather the police tend to the innocent victims first, offer first aid, comfort them until medics arrive, rather than prioritise protecting the attacker, not sure why you find that so difficult to comprehend.
yup… bizarre. Tell the news and give details and they get criticised. Don’t give away too much and criticised..
They seem to care more about speculating shite than people who are injured.
and what? Allow the attacker to get torn to pieces? Your thoughts here make eff all sense. Hence I can’t comprehend
Medics were on the scene in rapid time
If it is terrorism, liverpool will explode. There was an islamic tent thing attacked a couple of weeks back on church street, it was giving out islamic info.
If it was a medical incident, which from twitter videos, doesnt look likely, then its a tragedy.
If it some mad sort of roadrage, that driver needs to disappear as he will never be safe.
I was there last weekend and was planning to take my daughter to this.
Time will tell.
Prioritize the innocent victims who've just been plowed over by a car, and are left lying motionless on the wet concrete.
If the attacker gets torn to pieces, so be it, the innocent victims deserve every chance to live much more so than the attacker.
We already know the perp is a 53 year old white male.
30 mins ago you said this:
"Pity the crowd didn’t get the scumbag"
again, making no sense. And having 0 understanding of the duties of a police force, and the duties of emergency services.
“If he gets torn to pieces cars do be it..”
Now you've a crowd of people implicated in a murder.
What you're calling for is mob justice.
yes. I did. And I wouldn’t shed a tear for any person who deliberately could do something like this: But, that is NOT how a civilised society should operate. I also am mature enough to know this.
No way should police be criticised here for doing their jobs!!
No I'm calling for the innocent victims to be be given every chance to survive and live.
A 53-year-old white man you say?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duncan_Ferguson
It's not just about protecting the perpetrator, it's also about protecting some very understandably angry people from themselves, if they did tear the said person to pieces they would be facing murder charges and a life behind bars.
That's a good point and not something I had considered.
They literally have the perpetrator arrested and we know he's a 53 year old white man. Not sure this is the hill you want to die on.
What if (and I'm not saying this is the cause, but you need to factor it in) it was a vehicular malfunction and the mob tore apart an innocent man?
The justice system exists for a reason. Lynching hasn't been a 'solution' for a long time and I don't think we should start again now.
There's also a chance that the perpetrator may have had some other weapon. The police had to be working off this assumption, and thus apprehending them was highest priority action for them.
There's also very little they could do to help the victims.
Could be serious questions to be asked about the traffic planning of the event in the light of other of similar incidents recently
that is the simplicity of it. Police stop:neutralise the threat. They can’t neglect this because people are injured and some think the police should be more focused on the injured.
@Necro is it ok to share a video of the car before it mowed people down? There’s nothing distressing in it.
Edit: the link to the video is in the next post

There's the first one. Shouting what are you doing. He's beeping. You can see fans pushing others aside to let him go.
Then they start smashing the car with objects. And tried to open the door.
Then he goes full throttle.

I'd say he thought he was going to be lynched and just went on. Don't why he turned into the crowd though as from the other videos you can see they clear the road a bit straight Infront.
Police need looking at here. How is a car getting in there in the first place.
A thorough investigation will take place. Three possibilities: deliberate act; medical issue; or he never intended it, but happened to hit someone, and panicked with crowd reaction and hit the accelerator to try get away
