When discussing lowering the voting age earlier O’Connor said “righty wingy like” when paraphrasing a quote in an article and one of the panel jumped in and said “lefty wingy too”. O'Connor was O’Connor-ed so to speak and didn’t like it, came back with a “I was reading what the article said” rebuttal. He did not seem amused.

I was listening to Anton Savage's show beforehand and was thinking you could probably create a parlour game for current affairs anoraks, where you list the panelists for both shows and you have to guess which show was which. I don't think I've ever heard any of Savage's panelists on O'Connor's show. Not sure if they are as predictable as O'Connor's either.
Clifford would actually be one of the more sensible panelists on the show. Peter Browne’s solution to the housing crisis was to remove ALL taxes tor builders and developers because it isn’t profitable enough as is. This was greeted with stunned silence by the rest of the panel when O’Connor asked them for their thoughts on this.

Funnily enough, the last time Browne was on he said the same thing, but the idea was so radical it went over everybodies heads, and there was no reaction at all.
Building costs are phenomenally expensive at the moment though. While there are economies of scale and profit with large developments of small houses in the cities where there are people who can afford them. But, some of the other sectors like apartments and private estates outside the cities can't be built for the prices that people can afford. I thought the reaction from one of the other panelists to the idea of removing VAT was a bit ridiculous. She said - well why don't we remove income tax, as well? What on earth would be the point of that?

Ah yes, I remember that. I’m not normally one to offer excuses for RTÉ or O’Connor but it’s a current affairs show/panel, he’s unlikely to mention something from 3 years ago. Does anyone remember about a week or so ago Brendan was talking to someone about how certain people are more easily manipulated by flattery. I thought it was May 17th but there's nothing of it there on the RTE website.

Panel regular Brenda Power on again, as is Larry Donnelly. There are 2 other members (Louise Bailey and David W. Higgins) but they barely got a word in over Power and Donnelly.
Brendan started the show with a written piece by Power on the Satchwell case. Long story short - all men are evil and potential murderers, Gardai are incompetent (the host was in quickly with a disclaimer!), and it is only thanks to women the case was solved.
Power’s criticism of President Higgins makes sense when you hear her talk about the Israeli genocide. I’ll just say I don’t agree with her views.

The podcast is just a copy of what's been broadcast though? And the mistake was broadcast.
Believe me, Rte can edit podcasts of their live shows if it suits them to. They have form.

As confirmed by @NIMAN RTÉ can and often do edit the show before it gets put out as a podcast. I’m not in favour of this in principle but obviously in the case of libellous comments etc it is a requirement. It should also be edited when obvious mistakes like this occur.
Except when Joe Duffy calls someone a fúckin clown.
